Xenn0X
hello, do you guys have any problems with macpar running in leopard? my laptop works perfectly but when running macpar it clogges the whole 4 gb ram and makes the system slow. just uses all 4 gb. removed 2 gb to check if 4 gb was the issue but still same. when checking the activity monitor i see macpar running but next to it par264. as far as i know this is the app that checks the par files. this app uses all the ram. i checked the macpar site and say that it runs in 64 bit mode in leopard. now is there a way to force macpar running in 32bit, par232 so it might not use 4 gb ram to check par files? do you guys have same problem with macpar or can you guys check this? here it happens on checking pars over 2 gb in size with the rar files. check my sig fo system specs. runs all vanilla and smooth. except mac par on 64 bit goes loco. any idea's? Headrush69
when checking the activity monitor i see macpar running but next to it par264. as far as i know this is the app that checks the par files. this app uses all the ram. But no error or crash? If the PAR files are over 2GB isn't this a good thing? (using all RAM effectively) I've never really checked when using PAR with big files, but the system never had issues and I know other apps didn't suffer. (other than because of disk activity from unraring the files in the PAR archive) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/118687-macpar-uses-all-system-memory-when-checking-pars/#findComment-841077 Share on other sites
Xenn0X
no errors nothing, it works except takes all memory. what i ment with 2 gb. is that is in chuncks of 50 or 100 mb files. in total of 2 gb or larger. when par checks the files i can see the memory decrease in istat until it hits the end and i'm left with 3 mb ram free or so. to me it looks like macpar loads all rar and par files in the system ram until it hits the 4 gb on my laptop. then the system still works but gets awfully slow and jerky due no ram left for leopard self.
