Unklemac Posted July 29, 2008 Share Posted July 29, 2008 Hi, It seems my 10.5.2 sometimes crashes my programs (Adobe apps), and so I tried to update to 10.5.3, but I got the "Shutdown error - mac screen" once I boot. I followed the instructions very carefully, and made sure i didn't miss 1 step. I then installed 10.5.2 on top of my attempt at 10.5.3 and my system and programs are working again (but crashes randomly). So how do I go about getting my system up to date ? My specs are MSI P6N SLI Plat MoBo Intel C2D e6300 1.86 xfx nvidia 8800gts and 3 gb of ram. OSXploit Posted September 7, 2008 Share Posted September 7, 2008 Guys in order to go to 10.5.4 you have to use the updater to go from 10.5.2 to 10.5.3 I want to upgrade to 10.5.4 too but everytime I do it through the software update it crashes my system I think that it is the Kernel causing the problem. Download the 10.5.4 Delta Update manually from Apple, and a 9.4.0 hackintosh kernel (not from Apple!) you can use the Modbin kernel or the new StageXNU Kernel. Install the update normally (don't reboot) then install the kernel (use osx86tools from pcwiz) and reboot. I'll leave you to google all of the above. Guys here is what I did following what Beerkex'd recomended. 1-Ok so first I install Kalyway 10.5.2 2-After thats done I run the Kalyway Updater to upgrade to 10.5.3 (do not run kalyway_10.5.3_kernel.pkg) Reboot! 3- I then run the USB fix. Reboot! 4-I then run the DELTA UPDATE (MacOSXUpd10.5.4.dmg) but DON'T reboot 5-use OSX86Tools to install the Kernel. DON'T REBOOT YET! 6- once thats done run the Kext installer to install the system.Kext .......link post below. REBOOT!!!! The system rebooted twice by itslef and ran fine after that. Is very easy!! ========================================================================= I used this tool(kext installer) http://www.cheetha.net/Kext_Helper/Software.html to install the system.kext ========================================================================= go here to get the StageXNU kernel plus the system.kext.... it comes with 2 files u have to install both using the tools mentioned above OSXTools and Kext installer http://leo4all.uni.cc/viewtopic.php?f=17&a...mp;p=2264#p2264 Beerkex'd thanks again!!! all we needed was someone to show us the light!!! mamakawama Posted September 16, 2008 Share Posted September 16, 2008 when I run the Kalyway 10.5.3 combo update, when finished, I'm shown a multi-language screen overlay telling me to reboot that prevents me from doing anything else. After a reboot I try to load the "update" -a -F and I get errors. No dice.
