madwh
So how do I do it? After 3 days of testing and trial&error I got everything to work but right now my biggest problem is my sister's stupid music she listens to on youtube and occasionally in iTunes. I need some kind of method to set the maximum volume on the guest account (or any account if that's not possible) that allows me to later modify with authentification if possible. Thank you. I'm new to OS X by the way. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/117880-how-do-i-set-the-maximum-volume-in-leopard/ Share on other sites
apowerr
I know that depending on your hardware you can set volume limits in System Preferences-> Sound-> Output. I'm not sure if it would be exclusive to her account or global however. madwh
I don't see any option there regarding the maximum volume. I'm ok with global volume limit if that's the only way I could set a volume limit. HBP
the hear, from joesoft (I think), it has some volume limiting features, and if you restrict it to Admin only, she can't open it to reset, it modifies CoreAudio to allow for limiting Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/117880-how-do-i-set-the-maximum-volume-in-leopard/#findComment-835409 Share on other sites
madwh
Thank you HBP112358, that might work but *noob question* how do I make that program start with the guest account? Or can I create another account with same limits like the guest account but with some programs starting with it? madwh
HBP112358 you're my hero. I used Hear to set the maximum volume on an account I created with same limitations like the guest account and then I figured out that it's enabled even if the program doesn't start with leopard. No more stupid music for my ears! Thank you. coolied
maybe you could write some sort of login script for her account that unloads the audio driver kext?
