NivS
Hey all I have an ASUS P5LD2 board (http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=185&model=515&modelmenu=1) I just installed Tiger 10.4.1 and updated to 10.4.3, but network is not working, and the hardware is not even detected (Onboard Marvell 88E8053 PCI-E Gb LAN controller). But can I buy a standard PCI lan adaptor, like a 3COM or D-Link and that will work? If so please tell me what to buy that should work with Tiger 10.4.3 Also is it just plug'n'play or I need to reinstall to make it work? Hans... numberonekiwi
A RTL8139 Network card works and they are very cheap brought mine for NZ$14-95 but I know I could of even got cheaper if I spent more time shopping around the kext is included in the IONetworkingFamily.kext in 10.4.3 - for some reason the 10.4.4/5 one doesn't work so you have to use the 10.4.3 thats if you decide to upgrade Another option is to get the IONetworkingFamily.kext from 10.4.4/5 and use that it is suppose to support the 88E8053 Marvell LAN and copy that to your extensions folder. thrunner
You should have read and searched that Onboard Marvell 88E8053 PCI-E Gb LAN controller is supported under 10.4.5. The title of your post is confusing as well, is it a sound card or NIC you are asking? Once you upgraded, go to System Pref and network, ethernet to activate the network.
