I'm finally fed up with seeing sooooo many people running osx86, but me not being able to...so i've decided to just buy a new mobo and proc...

I currently have an amd athlon x2 4400+ and a stock dell mobo with barely ANY options in the bios.

can anybody point me to a motherboard that I can get which has an AM2+ slot for my proc and also has an ide controller so that i can use my extra ide drive as the primary drive for leopard...?

if there isn't one under a $100 that is compatible with leopard, can anyone point me to an intel motherboard and processor that is fully compatible with leopard..? the bundle can be under $200.

i prefer newegg or tigerdirect.

if anyone helps me, i will be very thankful because i really don't have enough money for an apple product, but i REALLY want Leopard.

thanks =D

You should check out the HCL (hardware compatibility lists) at the Wiki.

There are many motherboards and intel processors that work perfectly, so choose whatever suits you. The prices range from $50 upwards for Core 2 Duo motherboards, and from $40 upwards for working Intel processors...

Thanks for the link.

And yeah, I know there are many that work perfectly, but I'm simply asking for specific ones that work that would be affordable.

I keep seeing lots of motherboards that are said to work perfectly here, but they are no longer available to buy on Newegg, so it's a little hard...

Buy an Intel E4600, get the boot-132 disk (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=114013) and buy a retail Leopard DVD. Install the real OSX leopard, and you'll come the closest you can on a budget to the real macintosh experience.

Installing from the retail DVD is the holy grail of hackintoshes. You can't do that with an AMD chip, which are otherwise very good.

It's just a pain in the ass to get working in OSX86. Not worth it. Of course there are people that try etc. but I don't recommend that you buy this motherboard, if you want to run OSx86. There are perfectly working Intel motherboards for $50-60, and even $40 if you look around. Then pick and choose between any of the current Celerons, Pentiums or Core 2 range of CPU's.

well, actually..i finally got LEO4ALL to install on my computer...but i was getting the 'still waiting for root device' message.

i'm pretty sure it's the fact that my controller is wrong or something..

so...

i just bought a GIGABYE GA-M78GM-s2H. i've seen lots of people have success with it, so hopefully i will too..

sadly, it wouldn't power on...so i'm going to go exchange it right now...hopefully the next one will work.
