I was thinking of shoving a PC mobo into a Power Mac G4 case. The case is a Power Mac G4 Gigabit Ethernet model and therefore it has a port for Apple Display Connector (ADC). I've got a matching monitor that goes with it and plugs in through ADC. If I plug the G4 graphics card (containing the ADC plug) into a PC, will it give out a signal or not.

And I have looked at Apple's ADC to DVI adapter, but I think it's a bit pricey so I want it to be my last resort.

You would need a video card that had bios information for both a Mac, and a PC, ATI did it with either a 9700, or 9800, and is doing it again with the HD3870, so you most likely will probably not get a signal from your mac card plugged into a PC. The adapter is the only way to go I'm afraid.

yep easier to get the adc adaptor, altho you can get the pinouts to the dvi and try and recreate your own adapter but i wouldnt reccomend it.

dr. bott's dviator is usually cheaper than the apple branded ones. also ebay is a good choice to search.
