Epona Fries
Hello, I downloaded and burnt Kalyway 10.5.2 and tried to install it. When I verbosely booted the cd it gave the "still waiting for root device" error. My specs are: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6GHz NVIDIA 8800 GTS 320 MB Hitachi Deskstar 80GB HD (IDE set as master) Super Writemaster DVD R/RW CDR/RW (SATA) I tried everything the technical FAQ said in the wiki and no luck. Help? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/115570-still-waiting-for-root-device/ Share on other sites

Help? SATA, you need to get driver support, either that or Kalyway doesn't support SATA, gl Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/115570-still-waiting-for-root-device/#findComment-818313 Share on other sites
Epona Fries
Would Leo4all or iATKOS have SATA support? Should I try 10.4? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/115570-still-waiting-for-root-device/#findComment-818315 Share on other sites
riotshield
I have also tried many times to install that kalyway release to no luck, getting stuck to root device message. It very annoying as I do not know what to try to make it work. I have tried every possible jumper/cabling HD combination to no avail. Specs are: AMD X2 4200+ ASUS M2A-VM M/B which has ATI Radeon X1250-based GRAPHIC CARD WESTERN DIGITAL 320GB SATA HD IDE DVD-RW I am putting photo of the message that appears during the installation attempt in order to make it easier to diagnose the problem. many thanks for your help Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/115570-still-waiting-for-root-device/#findComment-818316 Share on other sites

Gujal
nForce SATA interface is a doozy. There is some support for it and it varies from motherboard to motherboard. Look at Mysticus C's detailed thread on this topic of installing Leopard on nForce Motherboards Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/115570-still-waiting-for-root-device/#findComment-818460 Share on other sites
Epona Fries
So because the problem is with the SATA DVD drive couldn't I just copy the contents of the kalyway disk image to a usb flash drive and boot off of that?
