ASNNetworks
So I desided to upgrade my PC/Hackintosh I want to get the ASUS P5N-D (nForce 750i SLI) with the Intel Q6600 (Core 2 Quad) CPU, the nVidia 8800GT 512Mb and 3GB DDR2... But here's the problem...I don't know if this combination will work with Mac OS X...Does the LAN work? Does the 8800GT work properly and is the CPU compatible? I searched through the forum, but with little succes... So is there anyone who can help me or confirm that it will work? Thanks in advance Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114839-asus-p5n-dq66008800gt-will-it-work/ Share on other sites

Volcacius
I think it would be better if you bought an intel-based motherboard. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114839-asus-p5n-dq66008800gt-will-it-work/#findComment-813336 Share on other sites
ASNNetworks
What do you guys suggest then? Cause it should have 2x PCIe x16 2.0 for the 8800GT...and SLI.... FrankOS_Scripting
What do you guys suggest then? Cause it should have 2x PCIe x16 2.0 for the 8800GT...and SLI.... The SLI is made for gamers!!! One 8800 GT would be efficient and nice. ASNNetworks
Well..I plan to build it for the future aswell...You see, I use Vista aswell, only to game, and Mac OS X for daily use...So if the motherboard supports SLI I can pop in another 8800GT in the future...But what are the downsides of the P5N-D actually? And which one should I get to get the most out of the Q6600 and 8800GT, for MAC OS X and Vista use....it should cost around €120, or less ofcourse:P Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114839-asus-p5n-dq66008800gt-will-it-work/#findComment-813406 Share on other sites
FrankOS_Scripting
Yeah I understand but if I can give you my personal opinion, I would be on the side of the Asus P5W deluxe edition. Since I was here, feedback are pretty positive and theoricaly, it's works out of the box. Don't forget in the deluxe, you had the WiFi Access point etc. Take 5 minutes and go on wikipedia or on the ~pcwiz blog to see what's the best! And BTW, welcome to InsanelyMac ! FrankOS_Scripting
No problem men! I'll be there if you want more infos. Frank is always here to help people! PM me if you need a hand. And so, take your time to chose the right hardware, we are talking about several hundred dollars. nForce chipset is not very recommended for thousand of reasons like you need to install kexts for SATA storage etc. Better with a P35 Intel chipset near from a real Mac Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114839-asus-p5n-dq66008800gt-will-it-work/#findComment-813563 Share on other sites
ASNNetworks
Quick question...Is there even a motherboard the supports SLI and works with Mac OSX (sound, network)? Cause I'm getting the feeling there isn't and just have to live without SLI... ASNNetworks
What about the MSI P45 Neo2-FR? It's based on the Intel P45 chipset... BTW, I read that the P5N-D works, except for LAN, but I'll just pop in a compatible PCI Ethernet card...But will the Quad Core CPU work? So can I use all cores?
