patsphone2
Any word on whether anyone has gotten the new GX280 to work in 10.5.2, or 10.5.3? I've got one coming in a week or two, and I'd love to not have to swap video cards every time I change my OS. OMX-Knuckles
Probably not working yet. It's different enough from the 8800 9800 that existing drivers won't work. We'll have to wait for Apple to release drivers. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114809-gx280-support/#findComment-815305 Share on other sites

bobbobson
chances are unless they're very similar to the previous cards (which they're not) it won't work. I would say the best safe bet for now in terms of performance is a 9800GX2 or a 9800GTX+These are both based on the 8800GT that sells in the Mac Pro the GTX280 is a completely new core, and architecturechances are unless they're very similar to the previous cards (which they're not) it won't work. cyclonefr
For now it isn't supported on Leopard but it is on Snow Leopard. I think it's just a matter of months they add drivers for Leopard too. Maybe 10.5.5 ? Ya, I thought I saw somewhere that it was going to be supported by Apple.
