makwanad
I am currently using Kalyway 10.5.2, the rest of my specs are on my profile, would it be possible to just install the update from apple or do I have to go through 10.5.3 first? I am using EFI + Vanilla Kernel. Help Appreciated Dan Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114444-can-i-update-straight-to-1054-from-1052/ Share on other sites
SticMAC™
Only if you have a Mac! You'll need to follow Netkas's or Kalyway's update, personally i like Netkas's way, remember to download the ComboUpdate then you can go from 10.5 to 10.54 in one go! Netkas.org will show you all you need to know! makwanad
I've tried Kalyways update numorous times and I run the instructions given properly, I even repair permissions but everytime it just hangs on a blue screen. Perhaps you know what might be causing this and how it could be repaired? TheDon
Im in the same boat. Do you guys have backups of your working config? I was just concerned because its easy to do if you have an extra USB drive with at least the amount of space your current mac harddrive has used. I havent done the 10.5.4 update but I am on 10.5.2. I forgot the netkas page. Im going to try later on with my backup. THats the good thing about having a backup. you can use it as a test bed for updates. makwanad
Sadly my order for a 40gb IDE drive for my 2.5" caddy cocked up so now I have to wait a little while before I can create any kind of backup, once it comes I will then try Netkas' method. Unless of course someone tells me how to solve the blue screen issue. Dewdman42
I have been afraid to try to upgrade to 10.5.3 and 10.5.4 for a while now and today my fears were fully realized when I tried to do it using Netkas instructions and now can't boot my Hack. Anyone know how to rescue a mac that crashes immediately when trying to boot it every time after doing the update? mac_maestro
I recommend going to 10.5.3 first, using kalyway or JaS updaters. Then you should be able to use the Apple Software Update to go to 10.5.4, but there's not much new in .4 so you might want to stay with .3 for a while if it works well for you.
