Gujal
Which disk are you using? All the distributions have issue booting on ASUS P5B with IDE DVD Drive. However Zef's Chameleon patch has been released for Kalyway 10.5.2, Leo4allv3 and iatkos 2.0 so if you have any of these distros get the Chameleon patch and patch the iso and burn. It will boot properly on IDE DVD Drive on P5B Harddisk must be SATA and should be set to AHCI mode in BIOS Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114059-please-advise-me-asus-p5b-and-kalyway-1052-intel/#findComment-808062 Share on other sites
Mboyae
Thank you for your kindly answer. Sorry, i don't understand what you mean - which disk are you using? I use Kalyway 10.5.2, it's right answer? Now, i got the Kalyway-10.5.2-Chameleon-1.0.11-JMicron-fix already. But i don't know how to use this one. I have the Kalyway_10.5.2_DVD_Intel_Amd-Chameleon-1.0.11-JMicron-fix.ppf file in the rar file. And it have md5_after.txt and md5_before.txt. Please tell me what i'm gonna do. Thank you so much. smorf
Some say use DVD USB external. Some say Use DVD & HD SATA installing with sata DVD drive works like a charm on a P5B, i tried many installation methods, starting by kalyways 10.5.2 (my actual install) down to JaS 10.4.8. the only thing to do is to enter bios, and set the SATA controller to AHCI mode. so there´s no need to patch a DVD, as long as you use a SATA DVD drive. All the distributions have issue booting on ASUS P5B with IDE DVD Drive. if you don´t have a SATA DVD drive, installing from a USB DVD drive also works nice. just press f8 during boot, this opens the p5b boot menu. i recommend installing with kalyways, vanilla kernel, EFI in MBR, optional you can change the bootloader after installation. the jmicron PATA (IDE) controller gets recognized after installation, as kalyways contains the right kext.
