zebulla
Just thought I would update everyone on my success with installing tiger 10.4.3 on my Latitude D600 with ATI Radeon 9000 mobility. Wlan works perfectly No problems with install.. used 10.4.3 developers with all the patches. native install on 40gb harddrive. Had some problems with the video card, was stuck in 1028x786 forever, until earlier today when I was able to write to kernal using kernal flags, now I have 1400x1050x32.. brilliant ilife, Iwork, ms word everything works external usb drive works. Problems: the biggest problem is with my video.. I can play films and so on using videolan but it is very choppy and slow. My harddrive reads fast so I have no idea what the problem can be.. any tips? also I dont know where the Quartz debug is located or if I have it at all on my computer.. as I have no developers folder. One more problem is I am tring to connect an extra monitor.. I can use an external monitor but not both my lcd and external at the sametime.. hmmm.. . other than these two problems I really cant find anything else, and if I can get the video to work perfectly then mac os will be put on my main harddrive and goodbye windows!! kernalzero
zebulla, what method did you use to install 10.4.3 on your d600? I tried for a couple weeks to move form 10.4.1 to 10.4.3 and could never get it working. I even bought a new fresh HD to install 10.4.3 on and could never get a native install working. Typera, As far as I know the intel wireless cards still aren't working. I know my d600 had a broadcom card that had no trouble working. The built in lan card was also broadcom so no problems with it. :-/ thanks all Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11398-latitude-d600-more-or-less-success/#findComment-85322 Share on other sites
dislexicmofo
broadcom cards work by adding a plugin and editing the kext file, if you need help let me know. the wireless unfortunately is at a standstill right now, ill post the link to the topic later, im to lazy to do it right now. typera, whats the device id for your LAN card? typera
Its contained somewhere in here I guess: ? PNP Device ID PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_16A6&SUBSYS_81261028&REV_02\4&39A85202&0&00F0 I have decided to concentrate on getting MacOS working on my Sony instead of the Dell... which is causing me much more greif unfortunately (ie keyboard, mouse not working) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11398-latitude-d600-more-or-less-success/#findComment-87439 Share on other sites

Pauliver
Hey, my buddy has a d600 and i don't understand what you guys did to get different resolution modes / ati drivers working. he is running 10.4.5 and i have been all over this board looking for ways to get the video acceleration working. I even found some thread where a driver was posted for 10.4.3 (read every ati post here: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showforum=11 ) and all they do is confuse me more. some say it works, others say it dont work did you use this to change resolution? http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...he_boot_options So if you guys w/ d600's could tell me what you did to get what video working i would GREATLY appreciate it. Or even a firm answer like "It works under 10.4.3 but NOT under 10.4.5 because <reason>" would make my day. Thank you for your time Pauliver Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11398-latitude-d600-more-or-less-success/#findComment-90313 Share on other sites
MikeBee
acceleration works out of the box using the radeon8500 kext, but you can't change resolution. you can delete this kext and use VESA mode in which you can change resolution, but then you don't get any acceleration! haven't found a fix for this myself. Pauliver
when you say out of the box, are you saying that you just turn it on under 10.4.3 and it works? or do you have to open some file in some kext and add your cards id? (If so what file needs what added to it? Does this still work for 10.4.5 I'm very sorrry as im sure all this information is allread on this board somewhere but with all the contradicting posts i can't figure it out. kernalzero
Well I've finally moved from the stone ages of 10.4.1 to 10.4.5! The xBench score is a low 34 but it still boots up better than XP. I've got my graphics up to 1400x1050x32 using Bigboss's explaination here: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?sh...oot\.plist My Broadcom ethernet card is working, I'm using it right now! Has anyone gotten the truemobile 1400 card to work??? I would like to use the wireless for my laptop! Does anyone have the 1400 working under 10.4.5??? TheRealBigDaddy
From what I have read, it is pretty much like my 1350 and should work. Search for IO80211Family.kext you will also need the kext for the 5701 Broadcom ethernet (sorry, don't remember the name) Both had to be installed before it worked on mine.
