machead5678
Hi, I downloaded two days ago the 10.5.3 ComboUpdate. I downloaded some instructions that were a bit hard to understand. The .zip file contained the ComboUpdate and the kernel packages. After I installed it I was stuck at the grey apple screen for minutes (until I turned the power off. Not at the plug.). My current version is Kalyway 10.5.1 Leopard. I had to reinstall Leopard about 6 or 7 times. Also for some reason my leopard wont run if I install the vanilla kernel. Wierd! Please Help! -Machead Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/113855-1053-comboupdate-problems/ Share on other sites

muitommy
You should follow closely to the tutorials, you don't understand it good don't mean that you could install it directly ... AubieTiger
Why don't you try updating from 10.5.2? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/113855-1053-comboupdate-problems/#findComment-812582 Share on other sites
machead5678
(I edited this post but no changes made. Just spacing.) I really don't want to have to download a 4gb copy of leopard again. Is there another comboupdate that can work from 10.5.1-10.5.2 and then would the comboupdate to 10.5.3 work on 10.5.2 or would it still work on 10.5.1? Also here is my results on the verbose boot (update -v). Loading HFS+ File:[/some path] Loading HFS+ File:[/some path] Loading HFS+ File:[/some path] Loading HFS+ File:[/some path] Then some quick text flashed at like 1ms and booted to the grey apple screen. Stuck there again. Any ideas? Also here is what it said when I did the verbose mode boot (update -v)(I also put cpus=1 - I have absoulutly no idea what it means but I think it means to slow the boot down. If anyone could tell me what that means please do.) Any Ideas? Machead PS: I will reinstall leopard tonight. Also keeping in mind that if I install the vanilla kernel the mac won't boot. caitya
Hi! I also tried Kalyway 10.5.3 combo update package (Demonoid) as written. Everything was smooth and without any problem. But only one problem: As I pull down the menus, everything is white and no letter can be seen, only for a fast flashes as I click on the "white". Do you have any suggestion? QE/CI is checked and is supported. I have Intel E8200, Gigabyte PA DS3R rev 2.1, Ati HD3650. Any help appreciated!
