Yaris
I just installed the 10.5.4 update manually after a fresh install of Kalyway 10.5.2. It works fine, but there is a significant amount of choppiness when moving windows and opening the dashboard, etc. but before i installed the update it was fine. I was wondering if this problem can be fixed and if i t is being caused by the video card, which is a Geforce 5200 fx. I'm upgrading to a 7600gt anyway, but I want to make sure this problem isn't caused by anything else. I'm running at 1680x1050 and Vanilla. Also, about this mac shows that I have a 4 GHz processor when it is only 2 GHz. Is this a common issue? System profiler also shows "error while getting this information . . ." Any help? Edit: Well apparently Quartz Extreme is not supported anymore. I hope that's the only problem. iSkylla
Replace SMBIOS with a hacked one or use an Enabler. You lost QE/CI which is causing uyour graphics issue, there are loads of threads addressing how to fix it so I'm not going to go into it. Yaris
Thanks a lot guys. Sorry I'm such a n00b but what exactly do you mean by enabler and SMBIOS. I tried searching, but do you think you could just point me to a link? And would using a more powerful graphics card fix this or is it an issue with the kernel? BTW I have a Pentium E2180 2 GHz. RemcOSx
Yaris: You can try to install NVkush: http://diabolik1605.com/DHF/ Certainly when your upgraded to the 7600. It might resolve the Quartz Extreme problem. Kamikaze: While updating to 10.5.4, IO80211Family.kext is replaced. That might cause the wirelsess problem. Hope you made a backup of your previous extensions... Yaris
Thanks. I haven't tried NVKush yet but I installed the 8600gt from my windows PC and the tearing and choppiness isn't as bad, but it's much worse than before the update. Quartz Extreme still isn't enabled. Yaris
Well, thanks so much you all, but I decided to go back to 10.5.2. Everything works for me and I'd just rather update later. Falcon351
Well, thanks so much you all, but I decided to go back to 10.5.2. Everything works for me and I'd just rather update later. I had this problem with a 7900GT after updating from 10.5.2 to 10.5.4. Installed NVkush and it's back in business!
