forums32
Hi all, this is my first post after weeks of reading posts on this forums, so please don't flame my poor technical knowledge, but I had a question going through my mind reading several different posts and connecting them together. I have read that MSI will offer an EFI update for the P35 series motherboards, which is great as it could potentially help installing OSX natively on those boards. My question is: what is preventing us to flash already an Apple EFI on those boards, as they seem to have the memory capacity to hold an EFI firmware rather than a BIOS? Or could we modify Apple's EFI to make it work on these mobos, in case the EFI needs to be specific to the hardware (which I don't think is the case, according to my understanding, but I'd rather die with more knowledge than an idiot). Thanks to let me know your opinions. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/113233-apple-efi-on-msi-mobo/ Share on other sites
iPhoneTom
I have read that MSI will offer an EFI update for the P35 series motherboards, which is great as it could potentially help installing OSX natively on those boards. Those updates are for the P45-Series Boards only. My question is: what is preventing us to flash already an Apple EFI on those boards The bad taste to flash an new mainboard > $100 to death? But if you like to try, hey, tell me your results then Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/113233-apple-efi-on-msi-mobo/#findComment-801536 Share on other sites
TerraPhantm
Well I have no idea how EFI works, but generally flashing a traditional BIOS with a flash from another board will result in an unusable motherboard.
