gaSon
Hello everybody, I believe this is my first post over here... I´m writing because I want an opinion about the hardware I´ve chosen for my first Hackintosh, here´s the list: Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R Processor: INTEL Core2Quad 6600 RAM: 2x2GB DDR2 800 Corsair Video: Geforce 8800 GS 384 DDR3 Monitor: Dell SP2009W 20" (probably) ¿What do you think? The wiki says it should work, but i´m accepting any recommendations. I´ll use it for Video Post, FX, 3D, and Design (photoshop/illustrator/dreamweaver, etc). My main concern is that the motherboard doesn´t have integrated Firewire/iee1394 ports... ¿Can I add a generic Firewire card? ¿Will it work? If not ¿What motherboard should I use instead-with onboard firewire? Sorry for my english, I´m a little bit out of practice. Thanks in advance Gasón Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/112292-making-my-hackintosh-mac-pro-%C2%BFwhat-do-you-think/ Share on other sites
titooo
I don't know about the Firewire/iee1394 thing. Maybe you would dop better if you buy one of these motherboards, which are supported by efi-x usb for desktop computers: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P (rev. 2.0) Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3P (rev. 2.1) Gigabyte GA P35-DS3R Gigabyte GA P35-DS3L And if I am not wrong you just would have to isntall the audio kexts in case you don't want to buy efi-x. In summary if I am not wrong the motherboards I mention avobe works almost out of the box Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/112292-making-my-hackintosh-mac-pro-%C2%BFwhat-do-you-think/#findComment-795060 Share on other sites
sarahbau
Firewire will work. I have an $8 PCI Firewire card, and it works fine (in the hackintosh, not the Mac Pro) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/112292-making-my-hackintosh-mac-pro-%C2%BFwhat-do-you-think/#findComment-795271 Share on other sites
vbetts
How much are you willing to spend on a video card? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/112292-making-my-hackintosh-mac-pro-%C2%BFwhat-do-you-think/#findComment-795624 Share on other sites
gaSon
Firewire will work. I have an $8 PCI Firewire card, and it works fine (in the hackintosh, not the Mac Pro) Good news! What "modified leopard" do you have installed?? How much are you willing to spend on a video card? The 8800 gs is 200 dollars in my country (Argentina)... I´ve also asked for the 9600 GT 512, i can get it at $240 But i´m not sure if I really need more.. why do you ask?? I mentioned 3D, but it´s more like a hobby, actually i´m buying the video card for using with AE, Motion, and working with video composition mainly. What do you recommend? vbetts
Well, if you had more of a budget for the video card, I would say go for the 8800 GTS(G92).
