guitarpat2
I just built my third machine with the same MB using iAtkos 10.5.2. My ethernet is listed under the network settings and is even showing a green light, but is not allowing me to connect to the internet. My last MB did the same thing and all that I needed to do was unplug the machine for several seconds, reboot and the internet worked fine. This one is not working, everything else is running great. ben10
Well I think this is a good topic to keep going. I am using this mobo with the XxX 10.5.5 PPF2 install dvd, and I have it working pretty well with some minor issues. The main issues for me are SOUND and INTERNET. I havent even tried to get the onboard nforce internet working, I am using a PCI card (netgear) with pciRTL8169 kext. The net works great for a while, then will die after an inconsistent amount of time/traffic. The sound issue is very similar, sound works great with ALCInject and alc888, but after listening to a few songs the sound starts to garble, then dies completely. These are really the only two issues I have, other than the random (but infrequent) spinning wheel of death freeze. I am trying a fresh install right now, and will update whether or not I can get these issues taken care of. mikemayo21
to fix the internet google "LAN nforce osx86" the first link provides a kext that worked for me. i was running kalyway 10.5.2 with the 780i. so you would need to use another comp to get that kext i guess. im on windows again but ima try the new iatkos =S Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/111752-osx86-on-evga-780i-problems-and-suggestions/#findComment-1186808 Share on other sites
Monte SS Burnout
My setup is: Core 2 Quad q9650 3.0ghz 780i Evga FTW mobo 4gb 1033mHz DDR2 Ram 1 terabyte hard drive As of now, 6600 geforce, but in a couple of days i will have a: PNY GTX 260 Nvidia 896mb card. So I have got 3 installations of mac to work: Kalyway 10.5.2. The only thing that i got to work with that was the audio. I tried to update two ways, the 10.5.6 combo update, which failed. and the individual updaters. Which failed. So I moved on to a new installer. I had to borrow my brothers ide dvd burner, because no installer would work with my sata drive, aside from the kalyway 10.5.2 installer. I installed iDeneb 10.5.5, and then tried the newer version 10.5.6, both which worked. On iDeneb 10.5.6 I got the audio, and video to work installing appleAzalia Audio and AC97Audio Kexts. The video i used the 256mb NVinject 0.2.1 kext. Originally I installed the AppleNForceATA kext, for the chipset, but when transfering large files, as said before, the os would become unstable and freeze. I then tried the AppleNForceATA Test kext, on the dvd installer options, and it fixed the problem of transfering large files. I installed it with the 9.2.0 speedstep kernel each time. I did get everything to work except my network lan drivers. I tried different versions of the nforce kext, but that didnt work. Also I took a card from my old computer, a linksys 100tx card, and am trying to get the tulip kext to work, with no luck. But so far it runs great without internet. It froze when i left the comp on and walked away, so Im guessing the sleep kext doesnt work. But I would just turn it off anyway when I get it to actually work. Anyone get the lan to work? I used the forcedeth driver, but it doesnt fully work.. It says that the internet is connected with a green dot, and has a self-assigned ip, but no internet. I changed the setting to the type of wire i use, and still no luck. xitrium
All 4 cores working under load?Try moving big file around your system and see if it freeze lol 780i isn't stable for osx... trust me I've been there... but hey if you are satisfy with loading into mac osx, I got nothing to say. Is it stable yet? I tried on iAtkos 7 I think and it still crashes under heavy load. Does anyone know why this is? It's obviously related to the 4 cores since it seems to work perfectly with cpus=1, but other than that I have no idea what to look for. EDIT: I realized I haven't tried the "Test" NforceATA kext so I will try to find that when I get home and see if that fixes it. Hopefully it's available without me having to download iDeneb 10.5.5, lol. Also I got networking working with a package a friend of mine gave to me... I'll figure out the name once I get home. I think it was just called "NForceLan" or something like that. Rafterman
Well I have my system running fine with an Evga 780i, C2Q9450, Single ata drive(Slave), 5GB Ram, GTX470, DVD RW Drive, on board ethernet and sound all working with 10.6.8. I used tonymacs guide using ##### with 10.6.3 install. When installed run ##### and check #####(non DSDT). I also installed a kext AppleNforceATA.kext(see kexts.com). I needed VooDooHDA for sound. To get the Ethernet working load nForceLan.kext(or the nforcelan.pkg). I then immediately ran the 10.6.8 combo update without issue and before re-boot install the latest Nvidia drivers and add the efi string for my GTX470 to the boot plist. You may have to run ##### and re tick ##### and usb rollback(if usb not working). BTW the AppleNforceATA kext I'm using is the one from Domenico 'MeDevil' Colella. 2007, x64 rebuild by WIND.
