I give up, I keep trying but I just can't make it work. I tried adding the kexts to the DVD, it doesnt give a root device error, but instead it stalls on CODE_SIGNING errors, without anything else.

With the SB600 PPF patch, it loads, and I can even install, although it was too slow (maybe its a sign of a problem) yet when I reboot I get the same CODE_SIGNING and some mDNS stuff( can't remember)

Is there anything I can do?

Please, somebody help me!

W00T! I finally got it working!

Here's how:

- Get Leo4All v3.

- Get SB600 PPF, and patch the ISO.

- Boot the ISO, install (it takes a long time, about 2-3 hours)

- When you reboot, it will give waiting for root device error.

- Boot to Windows ( or Linux in my case), add SB600 kexts(from the SB600 topic in the SATA/ATA section here).

- Boot with -v -f, and it's working!

Then later on, you can use Kext Helper to not have to use -v -f everytime.

Yes... But - I use an external drive & I enable AHCI on my internal SATA drives. Leopard works, but it mostly skirts the SB700.Gigabyte GA-MA78GM S2H - 780G, Phenom 9550
Just to be sure, did you use an external USB DVD drive?
I used Zephyroth 10.5.2 rev 2 on my AMD system, and it works like a charm. I think there was something about SB in the customize window, you might give that a try if it doesn't work.
Do you mind telling me your system specs please, did you use an external drive?Did you have to do anything special? Thanks,Shane.
"Just to be sure, you used an external USB DVD drive?"

No. I use an external USB hard drive. I install OSx86 using my internal SATA DVD (in IDE mode) ONTO my external HD. OSx86 recognizes my internal SATA hard drives with AHCI enabled.

I can see my internal sata harddrive during install when AHCI is anable, but stop at a point.

I'll have to try and locate an external harddrive or hopefully someone will come up with a solution for SB700.

Thanks for the reply.

In Kalyway 10.5.2 the IDE was oppressively slow. I successfully installed to a SATA drive, but because I didn't have the right kexts there were 2 problems: 1.The SATA was apparently only run at 1.5Gbps 2. The IDE was moving at PIO6 speed, so the the DVD drive was incredibly slow and installation took an hour and a half. (Down 3 hours from installing to an IDE HD) But I had not experienced any of the errors you all had, I already had Windows Running it as an AHCI SATA controller so that was set to the right thing. Once I finished installing and got to a desktop, I DL'd 'SB600_SATA_ATA.zip' from insanelymac and installed them. The SATA and IDE were running at full speed after a reboot. But after a couple more reboots something weird happened. My IDE drives were gone, but my SATA drive remained. It was still going at 3Gbps according to system profiler, and the missing IDE drive descriptions were still there and accurate. But I could not mount them in disk utility and could not even use the CD drive as the rest of the OS doesn't recognize it. Has anyone else experienced this? I've cleared out the kextcache and reinstalled the kexts a couple of times.

How did you "add the sb600 kexts"? Can you elaborate please? I also have the same slow install and then the waiting for root device error.
