I've been unable to run osx86 native ever since 10.4.3. I can run 10.4.1 native. I've asked for help many times but no one has been able to help me figure this out. Today for the first time while trying once again to boot 10.4.4 native I noticed in the output during the error that in the cpu features list there's no sse3 listed. IT IS listed when I boot 10.4.1 in verbose. Could this be the cause of my inability to run native? I've posted a (literal) screenshot. If anyone sees anything off please let me know. Maybe there's wrong kernel? I don't know...Thanks.

asus a8n-vm mobo

10.4.4 pre patched from 'oid

I have an Athlon 64 3500+ Venice, and it also doesn't have SSE3 listed there (and I have 10.4.5 running). However, I was told it doesn't matter becuase if the CPU does actually have it, but is using a patched kernel to emulate SSE3, it won't actually use it becuase it does have it.

I would suggest you download the 10.4.4/5 PrePatched DVD (discussed in this topic: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=10614) becuase that worked for me, and it was the easiest too.

I'm sorry I can't help you more (I'm not really very good at this sort of stuff).

That's the same one I have I just got it somwhere else. I tried 10.4.5 as well, no difference. BY THE GODS will I not find any comfort in trying to go native!

This ACPI thing is driving me insane!

:D

Well, if that's the one you used, the kernel file should be patched for every processor that can handle OS X 10.4.4/5. What error are you actually getting?

The one in the screenshot. Can't find driver for this platform ACPI. No one knows how to fix it. It seems that the ACPI for this motherboard is screwed up; bad DSDT tables or something. One guy said he got 10.4.3 running with JaS patch on same mobo but I have the same disc and I still get the error no matter what I try. Besides I don't buy it.

I've tried disabling everthing in bios, different kernels different boot switches, you name it. I'm not the only one with this issue but no one has an answer. I thought if I posted a screenshot someone could take a look and maybe deduce why it gets hung up on this all the time. As an aside, if I don't use x86pc switch with 10.4.1 then it won't run either. Problem is, since 10.4.3 this doesn't do anything...

if its any consolation... i get the exact same error.

actually it is but I've only heard from a couple other people with same mobo and they pretty much threw in the towel on this. One guy claims to have got it working but I doubt it because he promised a couple things he didn't deliver on. I'm suprised we can't get more help but it seems like the only one capable of providing an answer may be the 'M' himself and he probably doesn't care about a few shmoes with this board. I don't know if you've looked but Linux users can't use this board either without having to do some serious patching. One quick question. Did you compile your own kernel or did you just use the ready made disk? Somebody, I forgot, claims that it's the 'no NX' patch to the kernel that causes this. I'm pretty sure I've used a kernel without it but I'll have to try again. Although I have a feeling it's the ACPI mobo issues with the DSDT tables.

Ive also got this problem with the exact mobo...

What version of OS X can you run as a native OS?

Because if we are able to run one of the versions theres some hack that could be done to fix so we can use the latest version of os x!?

Im gonna try to install Apple.OS.X.x86.10.4.Generic.Install.DVD now and Ill check with the mach_kernel files and try to check the difference between the cores and compare them because if its the DSDT tables that fcks up everything we maybe could do as they did on that mailling list frinchkin linked to in one of his post here...

take care

If you got any tip / answer on this post it ASAP!

sorry roelle haven't checked threads in a while. good luck, i've spent months trying to figure this out; only solution to me is new mobo. check acpi threads with this mobo and linux. it doesn't work on the penguin either because the acpi is {censored}e and asus still hasn't fixed it in their bios updates. it is possible that a patch is causing the problem-someone said they think it's the no nx patch-but i think it's darwin. let us know if you have any success. if you can compile a kernel that ignores dsdt table info you may be able to get 10.4.3 and up to run native. it's my hunch that 10.4.1 wasn't as vigoruos in checks but then again i don't know squat about those kinds of things. btw 10.4.1 generic install will run native but you have to boot it with acpi or x86pc switch, else you will get kernel panics...

maybe asus will fix bios but i wouldn't hold your breath.
