Geniusdog
I would definately say the HP Pavilion DX6650us is a good choice. As far as I can tell everything works except Intel 4965AGN wifi and a driver is in development for it. The only thing I cannot test is ExpressCard and card reader. S-Video out does not work, the HP Camera works with MaCam and the X3100 graphics chip has full QE/CI after a driver update in this forum, native res OOB. Trackpad and keyboard fully working OOB, HP Entertainment Remote works completely in Front Row. DVD/CD+-R/RW/DVD-RAM fully working. It uses the same chipset as the previous MacBook models, the Intel 965GM, Santa Rosa chipset. The Realtek ALC268 Audio works with full input output after using AppleHDA patcher install method 1 from this forum (search for AppleHDA). Realtek 8101e wired ethernet OOB. It is a great laptop for OSx86 and windows as well. I would definately recommend it. Synaesthesia
With all the issues mentioned above can you honestly say that this is a good choice? What do you mean? Everything works, except wi-fi. To fix that you just need to get a compatible mini-pci card, a really easy fix... @Geniusdog, you can get a Dell 1390 or 1505 internal wireless card to get Airport wi-fi working in your laptop, otherwise there are usb dongles that work too... Purple Puppy
If one can't afford an iBook, which are pretty cheap these days, then I doubt he can afford any new laptop. Unless, of course, he is confusing "iBook" with "Macbook", in which case it is a different matter. It seems that the laptops that Geniusdog recommended is not bad.... go for that. Someone have installed Leopard on a notebook where all works perfect like the original? i want to use osx as the principal os on my notebook. Someone can help me? I have an Acer Aspire 5601. To get sound use "ALC883Audio.mpkg" make sure to do a custom install and de-select 3 input analog and select 3 input digital as these Acer's have digital audio output. About the wifi you will have to use a different wifi like a wifi USB adapter which is what I use as I had 2 which I was nor using or some people actually change the wifi in there computer.
