Hello,

My favorite client to use for MSN service is aMSN, because it supports webcam, offline messages, custom smileys, and more. However, It does not want to work on my osx86 install, figured I'd ask here (official forums for aMSN Mac is down at the moment) and hope that another aMSN user could help me out.

So, I've tried downloading and installing the official 0.97 version from amsn-project.net, I've also tried the 0.98 betas with the same result:

After installation as I try to launch aMSN I see it pop up in my dock and the menu changes to "aMSN" for maybe one or two seconds, then it disappears.

Thanks.

Am I the only one here wanting to use aMSN? I'm currently using Messenger for Mac V7 and it lacks many important functions for me that aMSN has. But it won't start on my osx86.

EDIT: Started aMSN from a terminal window and here is the error output:

Is this aMSN related or an osx86 issue?

I had the same problem and overwriting the .app alone did not fix it for me, after searching a bit and trying a view things, this worked for me.

1. Remove the old amsn.app from applications

2. Delete the folder Home/Library/Application Support/aMSN

3. Install it again

That solved the problem for me, its not a problem with the .app actually (it did work on other user profiles on my mac) but with the settings in your personal profile

Another solution is installing the latest voodoo kernel. I searched on sooo many websites for well over 3 hours on how to fix my aMSN, as it wouldn't open from the dock. You can download the latest kernel here:

Just thought I'd help people out as I got this working :P

Does anybody solved this problem? I have the same issue but I cannot install Voodoo Kernel because I have an Intel Processor!

What can I do to make aMSN work?

On XxX 10.5.6, aMSN worked out of the box for me. Not sure which kernel I installed. I just know it was AMD compatible.

My installation of amsn did not write a "Home/Library/Application Support/aMSN" folder. Any other suggetsions. Tried to different versions of it.
