kinkster
So Im using kalyway 10.5.1 and I just installed it and so Im rebooting, and the apple logo spins around and then brings me to a blank grey screen. Then I try going with -v for diagnostics and it keeps saying Still waiting for root device. What should I do? Im using an ATI 2600 and I did check the Natit ATI box in the installations customazation. Could this be the problem? Any possible ways to fix this or things to try? kinkster
Its a P35 DS3L. I seem to have gotten past this problem but now I tried installing with out the video drivers and in MBR and after the Apple logo and the spinning white thing it just goes to a kid of fuzzy messed up screen. But I think it might be working but just not supplying the correct picture because if I move my mouse it changes the picture. What should I do? kinkster
Are you sure there isn't any way to fix this problem? Im not really looking forward to re installing XP and all my drivers etc just to download a different distro when this should work. Seeing as this iMac G3 can't burn DVDs to well... It seems it's just a display issue. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/108783-still-waiting-for-root-device/#findComment-772346 Share on other sites
aquanutz
If you system is saying that it's waiting for the root device, it can't read your HD. Since you seem to refuse to search for your answers yourself, check out this link: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=83689 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/108783-still-waiting-for-root-device/#findComment-772494 Share on other sites
kinkster
If you would read the thread you would know that I already solved that problem myself. And as you know the search function of this forum isnt very useful, and that thread doesn't have anything about that problem anyway. Anyway I've solved the problem. I booted up with -x then installed the latest NATIT video driver from there and rebooted.
