Listening to YouTube video on my iPod Touch has wider dynamic range stereophonically than listening to the same video on my 1ghz. TiBook G4 or my AMD/Biostar Hackintosh with either 10.4.8 or 10.5.2. Same wifi connection.

Any ideas why? Anyone else notice this?

The sound and range on the Touch is wonderful!

Do I need a new Mac to get the same fantastic sound quality on a computer? I like capturing sound with Audio Hijack.

Thanks.

No, I wish.

That's how I noticed the difference. I was listening to the same song on YouTube with the iPod touch with headphones and then the same song on the TiBook, with headphones, and noticed the quality drop. Then I listened to it on the AMD Hackintosh, with headphones and the quality was the same as the TiBook, not as rich as on the iPod Touch. It really sounds as if it's monaural on the computers and stereo on the iPod Touch.

There's a reason that Youtube sounds better on the iPod touch. The iPhone, iPod touch and AppleTV all use the new higher quality mp4 video on Youtube whereas by default web browsers use the lower quality .flv

For higher quality, click the little link below the video in Youtube that says "Watch in high quality"
