I put 10.4.4 on my PC. I had 10.4.1 working fine on it before. I formatted and all that and I've been following the instructions by the dude who's name you don't say. I booted with -s to do single user mode, and then it loads all the extensions. After that the screen is just black with no HD activity or anything. Whats up with that? I didn't even think it would load extensions in single user mode. Also at the boot prompt if I type the ? to see options, it doesn't do anything.

I'm bumping my topic because I looked around and I couldn't find anything helpful except one other person who got a black screen after the extensions loaded. No one really helped them either except one dude who said something about missing extensions. I'll try that. I'm still miffed as to why the boot prompt options don't work correctly.

I've got the same problem... The system loads successfully all the kexts, but after that it hangs with a blank screen. No HD activity. I'm using 10.4.1 now. I've got an AMD 3200+ with SSE3 (no XD/NX), a SATA HD 160GB Maxtor, a GeForce 6200 PCI-E, an ASUS A8V-E Deluxe with VIA chipset. Anyone knows how to fix it?

I believe you're trying to install 10.4.4 using 10.4.1? I'm afraid that's not possible. Quite a number of us have tried and failed. After all, he did mention in his instructions that 10.4.3 was needed to install 10.4.4.

I would suggest that you go grab the 10.4.4/5 dvd that's floating around right now and install using it.

Sorry, but is this DVD working on an AMD machine? :P

I read that's for Intel machines only

EDIT: I found that DVD, and is for AMD machines too. Thanks weeguy! ^^

I actually installed using 10.4.5 on my old powermac G4. I had my PC's drive formatted in Darwin so it has the right partition scheme, and I did have 10.4.1 running on it just fine before. Then I completely erased it and installed 10.4.4 from the un-patched dvd image with both it and the drive from my pc mounted on my G4. Then I followed the instructions by he who must not be named, but I guess I am using some extensions from my 10.4.1 installation. weeguy, is the DVD thats floating around right now patched or un-patched?
