nebo
Anyone know of a list of Mac keycommands and how to use them on a PC keyboard.. I often get the multicolor pinwheel of doom (ya I know its the busy symbol for me it just locks the machine).. In the mean time I really need to find out how to force quit on a pc keyboard. Program freezes are making testing nearly impossible.. Thanks, Nebo Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1076-force-quit-on-a-windows-keyboard/ Share on other sites
rohde
Force quit is: Windows key-Alt-Escape Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1076-force-quit-on-a-windows-keyboard/#findComment-6484 Share on other sites
rohde
Further, if you get the beach ball a lot, maybe you haven't applied the speed boost of removing the AppleTPMACPI.kext file? Anyway: on a standard windows keyobard it's like this: CTRL is CTRL Windows key is ALT ALT is the Command key (the sepcial symbol) so for instance Command key-c (which means copy) is ALT-C etc. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1076-force-quit-on-a-windows-keyboard/#findComment-6486 Share on other sites

What really threw me about the windows hotkeys is when you go to the apple and show the force quit (which has the hot key next to it) its some weird charactors that I don't really know.. I will remove theh kext file first chance I get (if it isn't already done in the deadmoo image).. thanks.. Better remove it first than latter; you will not believe the speed increase you get. judy
sudo mv /System/Library/Extensions/AppleTPMACPI.kext ~/Some/Place/Safe should do the trick. To boot in single user mode, type -s at the Darwin boot prompt.
