Couldn't alloc class "AppleAHCI" <--jmicro things + itunesphonedriver --> still waiting for root device Only kexts I backuped and reinstalled are: AppleAHCIPort.kext, IOAHCIFamily.kext and IOATAFamily.kext help me please =( Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/107543-update-to-1053-went-wrong/ Share on other sites
SticMAC™
you can follow the install on www.netkas.org (which you should have done!?) Now to try and recover you will have to search on how to remove the offending kexts in Single User mode. You will also have to copy your old AppleAHCI.kext which contains your ID's for your controller back, presuming you made backups of these!? If you have managed to reinstall them REMEMBER always repairpermisions whan you are done SticMAN Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/107543-update-to-1053-went-wrong/#findComment-762932 Share on other sites

Law_zg
This is what I have done: After updating to 10.5.3 i got that "still waiting for root device" message. I used netkas method. So I could not boot into OSx. Then I went to my bios and changed settings for SATA port from IDE to AHCI. After that I could boot into OSx, then I reinstalled my old IOATA kext and AppleSMBIOS kext and restart. Went to bios to change back SATA settings from AHCI to IDE. Now everything is working just fine. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/107543-update-to-1053-went-wrong/#findComment-763877 Share on other sites

eberts
Scarevok, I think you can get it working again. There's something you probably forgot in the instructions. Don't remember if you did it. Read osrom.net and have a look if you did the step regarding editing the Info.plist in the kext. come on IRC later on. Zerojojo
Hi Everybody, I installed 10.5.3 from 10.5.2. according to Netkas and it went as described, but after the install, my graphics card doesn't support Quartz extreme anymore and all the effects are noticeably slower. I didn't replace any of the .kexts, (I have the backup folder from Kalyway 10.5.1., though), because I'm not really sure what exactly they do and which one I need to replace. Is there any .kext for Graphics Cards? Or do I have to update my NVinject? I don't quite have a clue how that is done. I already feel like a real hacker having gotten through the update. I'm using a Geforce 7300GT 256MB Thanks for your help. It's much appreciated. http://www.youtube.com/user/therealfudgemachine Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/107543-update-to-1053-went-wrong/#findComment-764410 Share on other sites
VooD
I got the same problem and started a topic here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=107570 I managed to boot by replacing a couple of kexts with the ones from 10.5.2 but I really don't know why is not working directly with 10.5.3 ones. I never had a single problem with ahci in my mobo (ICH9R). Never had to installa a sata kext either. Btw Zerojojo your problem is not related you should delete your post. Quite annoying. I did re-install nvinstallV.41 and nothing has change. must be something else and the driver for the card itself.. adeadman
You too eh?, everything worked in 10.5.2 leo4all install, tried updating with leo4all 10.5.3 update, kernel panics through the roof (wrong kernel version?) tried numerous times, no luck. Then tried Kalyways 10.5.3.update - including the 9.3 kernel, same thing, until... i did basic install 10.5.2, no graphics drivers, stock acpi, smbios. updated to 10.5.3 then installed nvidia drivers (nvinject) worked great, but now smb broken, intermittent connectivity on network card (got a mac number, but disconnected, and when i could connect, no samba) installed IONetworkingFamily.kext from 10.5.2 and acpi from 10.5.2 (wouldn't shut down in 10.5.3) now eveything works great, never looked back. perhaps you may need to reinstall, or edit some 10.5.2 kexts over the top of the 10.5.3 ones. oh my mobo, GA81PE1000 PRO 2 (865PE chipset), with P4 3.4Ghz@3.8Ghz, 10.5.3, 9.3 kernel Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/107543-update-to-1053-went-wrong/#findComment-809836 Share on other sites
Mr. Surge
When I got a "is not compatible with its superclass" error for a kext I downloaded XCode and the source code for the kext, and compiled it on my system and that fixed the problem. Turns out, that superclass :censored2: happens when you start out with one guys patch and update with another.
