hmm... it's a strange problem... is this a problem for booting? I mean... is this problem bothering in your boot?

Not really everything works fine booting, its just I randomly get the startup disk when I look at About this MAC.

does it come up whenever you have a pen drive or other external attached? I got that one in about 6 months of Mac ownership ^_^

yes it does, i rebooted with the pen drive and it comes up everytime.

if you're using you'r pendrive when booting just cause it's the only way to get it working you'll like to take a look at this solution.

Then, I guess... you won't need to put your pen at boot... so problem fixed :)

Thanks, but I think its not related to USB, all my usb just works fine. Really wierd, because if I have something on my CD even without the pendrive, the Startup Disk Shows as well.

Same thing happens to me!

GA G31M-ES2L v2.0

Intel 6300 2.8MHz

I will see if Startup Disk shows up when I have a USB drive during boot.

It's true, Startup Disk shows up when I have a USB storage device plugged in, such as, iPod, USB key. Startup Disk also shows up when a DVD drive is installed! OP, do you have a DVD drive installed?
