PowerOfCheese
I need to find out which version won't continuously reboot! I am running out of dvd's and patience!!! One of my hard drives have already felt my rage (rest in pieces)! Failed versions (for pentium 4): 1. iAtkos 2.0i 2. Kalyway 10.5.2 amd intel Failed versions (for amd athlon XP 2500+): 1. iAtkos 1.0 amd 2. Kalyway 10.5.2 amd intel Symptoms: >try's to boot off disk, but doesn't get past "Starting Darwin/x86" -Truthfully, I am desperate now. I am great with computers, and this baffles me. If you need any statistics on my machines, please ask! Thanks, PowerOfCheese

Bergamot
Are these new computers, or old ones you had laying around? The reason I ask is that I rarely hear of anyone building a new hackintosh from scratch using a P4 or Athlon XP; usually they opt for an Intel Core processor. But yeah, detailed specs are going to be needed before anyone can help much. The most important info is the motherboard chipset, but if you don't know that we can probably figure it out from the motherboard part number. SticMAC™
Ditto!! @PowerOfCheese 1) How can anybody help if you don't tell us what type of "toaster" you are trying to use! 2) Sarcasm here will get you NOWHERE! You have not even posted double figures yet, and you want to throw tantrums!? Most of these guys have been here for a long time but still can't smell what machines are used and if the problem is not well described they can't smell the issues! 3) Stick your machine specs in you signature, that saves time re-typing it everytime! If you are working on more than one machine, CLEARLY state the model you have an issue with, not all computers are the same 4) Mac OS was written for state of the art equipment and can not just be loaded on any old piece of {censored}!! The fact that these guys can do it, is because the have the knowledge and will power 5) Only if you were paying for it, no wait not even then will you have the right to DEMAND here!? 6) Don't become a dumbass, guys appreciate if you have at least made a serious effort in installing, my DVD count is currently 47! 7) O, yes lay off the RED WRITING!! SticMAN But yeah, detailed specs are going to be needed before anyone can help much. The most important info is the motherboard chipset, but if you don't know that we can probably figure it out from the motherboard part number. GenMatrix
I just think it's funny that he expected a response in less than 2 hours....(PoC). Try booting with cpus=1. If you have no idea what I mean by that. Lemme know.
Kurto2021
A great help you are!!! as a matter of fact I am Another common cause of resets with the vanilla kernel is not having the NX (No eXecute) bit enabled in BIOS.
The Only Joey
Shall we keep this serious please? I have the same problem that after 5 lines after i press enter in the screen the complete system reboots, i tried a lot of different boot parameters (when i load safe mode he goes on longer but still reboots) My system is the following: Pentium 4 HT (SSE2 Compatible, dont know for sse3) 3GHZ dual thread Nvidia 7600GT Its a 32bit system i think, maybe i need to run it a different kernel. any thoughts? If more info is needed i will look
Kurto2021
Try the above thing I mentioned but I am sure it won't work for you....I know Celeron D's had reboot issues so i would assume that is a Kernel issue. If I were you I would consider an upgrade of the P4 to a C2D as I made the move from P4 to C2D and it was a significant upgrade
The Only Joey
The thing is that a P4 should work and i do not have the money to upgrade atm. I tried the above already but did not work. Any idea's?
sama7896
"Joined: 21-May 08" "I am running out of dvd's and patience!!!" Funny Do you have a intel chipset board ? p4ht supports sse3, but you should not use a efi solution. Good luck next, try tiger, you should have better luck with that
The Only Joey
I will try tiger then. Quick question, what works better in general, tiger or leopard?
