Well i've tried dualbooting my HP Laptop with Vista 3 times now and have had problems all times. Can never get the fdisk commands to work, says fdisk is and error or whatever. Anyone know where there is a foolproof guide for this? I've tried 2 so far, the first one i can't remember and i've since tried the guide by Hack Attack, but had problems with that one as well.

I just installed a HP 6700 (6785nr) with Vista Ultimate (had to reinstall all). EVERYTHING works. Then I installed Kalyway 10.5.2 (will be posting that in this forum shortly). Regarding your question, I did something EXTREMELY simple, didn't think it would work, but it did.

Installation order was Vista first and Leopard second, same disk two partitions.

I hope this link isnt forbidden, sorry if it is. http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Vista_Dual_Boot

It basically states to create a simple boot.ini file and put in c: and copy the old Xp Ntdlr file to c:. Also, copy the Chain0 file in your kalyway or whatever DVD in c:

Then it goes about telling how to do something in Vista with bcdedit WHICH I DIDNT DO. I proceeded to install leopard.

After installing Leopard (Vista was already installed) and rebooted, a HPS Partition Error showed in the screen. Went again with Kalyway DVD F8 and -s, then mount -uw / , then fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 (mine is the only disk), f 1, w, q. Then reboot.

VOILA, Vista lets me choose Microsoft Vista or Mac Os X.

I wanted to include the files but it is not allowed.

Good luck. :)

PS: The disk drive was partition in Vista. I didnt partition it IN the Leopard installation process.

So I got everything to install ok and am able to get to the partition selection during bootup, but when i select to start up the Vista partition, it says that it cannot find the executable file to start vista. Or it's corrupt. Can boot into OSX fine. Any fix for this?

What I do is install Vista on one drive. I then remove that drive and install OSX on another. Then I reconnect the vista drive. Then on bootup I just hit esc during post and it brings up a menu letting me select which drive to boot from. Works great.

I tried the other method and it works fine when my OSX drive is set to MBR. But it won't let me do that now with a 750gb drive and I can't do it with it set to GUID.

I don't have 2 drives, just 1, i'm on a HP Laptop.

Boot to a g-parted live cd and set vista partition to boot (manage flags) Let it boot to vista and use the Vista dvd to repair. Once it will boot to vista ok boot back to the g-parted cd and set your OSX partition to boot again. After that you should be able to use Darwin to boot to either OS with OSX being the default.
