if you are talking about copy from install DVD dmg to an external HD and then booting from it and installing, i cant see why not.

but if you think of a hackintosh already installed on an external HD containing install dmg - then no.

another thing i did was to take my external time machine and restore it to another (different) computer, and it worked.

hope this helps.

So i can create a dmg and put it in an external hard drive. Then boot it on a pc?

sorry, i am having hard time understand the question.

if the purpose is to boot from a DMG file then the answer is no. (doesn't matter if it is on external or internal drive, DMG is not a bootable format).

if the purpose is to clone the DMG content onto an external driver and the end result is a clone of a bootable HD on the external HD and then boot of it then the answer is yes.

but again the DMG source is a bootable disk or dvd, a simple copy of the dmg file to the external HD will not do.

Shay.

If you want to drag and drop the dmg file to the external disk, then no, it will not boot. A dmg file is not bootable in and of itself. However, if you have a mac or a hack set up already and can mount the dmg file on that, you can then install it on your external drive. It will boot if your pc is set up to boot from an external drive.
