RoyaRandom
I tried installing Kalyway, but when it won't get me to the intsall screen. I'm not sure what error I'm having, but i suspect it is either kernel panic or I/O error. Hagar
SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed, SENSE_KEY = 0x04, ASC = 0x08, ASCQ = 0x03 SAM error is almost always a bad DVD or DVD drive. try checking the MD5 of you disc, reburning at a slower speed, or using a different DVD drive. I burnt it at 4x with IMGBurn using a DVD-r. Is it better for me to use a different software or/and DVD +R? Is it possible to install Leopard from an external hard drive by mounting the iso on it? RoyaRandom
By the way, I tried using Leo4All v3 and it gave me a waiting for root device error. In kalyway they had the VIAATA driver and i think that is why it didnt give me the root device error. Can i inject the VIAATA drivers into LEO4All? WoJ
I got a similar kernal panic when trying to install kalyway 10.5.2 on my laptop (Acer Aspire 3610, Intel celeron M). I never managed to fix it. Try booting with: -x (safe mode) or -x -v What are your computer specs? Whats you CPU etc? I downloaded iATKOS and used that and it installed fine - problem was there are no drivers for my graphics card on Leo, so i went back to a Uphuck Tiger release. I'll try reburning it, and the reason im using it is because i have an ATI Sb450 mobo, and I think kalyway supports it since it doesnt give me the waiting for root device error. Signal64
RoyaRandom - What motherboard are you using and are you using IDE or SATA? As suggested, did you try the -x -v options on your Kalyway DVD boot? Press F8 when it boots and type -x -v and enter. I got rid of the SAM errors during the install by disabling the onboard audio for a nforce board I have. Doubt it'll solve your disk problem though. RoyaRandom
I removed IOATAFamily.kext, AppleVIA.kext, AppleVIAATA.kext from the iso and it gave me a waiting for boot device, therefore i figure that those kexts made it to boot. Then I added the three kext in Leo4All and it gave me the sam multimedia error but it also have the waiting for root device. Could those 3 kext be responisble? and how can i fix it. WoJ
I'd suggest trying iATKOS if you havnt already - sure its another download, but you could just be unlucky with the releases you've tried so far. Are you on an intel CPU or AMD? Make sure you get a release that works for you CPU. Did you try to get a version of 10.4.x running on your PC at all? I know Leo is more up-to-date, but a tiger release could be worth trying - of course thats more downloading but if your on broadband and have a DVD-RW it shouldnt take too long. Hmm...dont realy know what else to try... do you have a USB DVD drive you could try/borrow off someone? some other boot commands to try: cpus=1 "Graphics Mode"="800x600" WoJ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/105201-kalywat-1052-install-error/#findComment-750501 Share on other sites
