Hi All,

I am a little confused on which image to download.

All I want is the LiveCD so I can play around with it.

I go HERE, and it gives me the option of i686 and x86-64

I usually download the i386 iso for Ubuntu, OpenSUSE, gOS, and others, but Fedora is not giving me that option.

My processor on my Desktop is a Pentium 4 HT and my processor in my Laptop is a Pentium Dual-Core. They are both x86 (i.e. i386 processors) aren't they?

Thanks,

Cody

Get the i686 CD. That is the one you need, because x86_64 has both instructions.

So does i686 means i386 then? I've not come across an i686 before...

Exactly, that is why I am confused...

My processors are not on that list. Weird, huh?

Your processor should qualify as i686

Edit: your laptop Pentium Dual-Core might or might not support x86-64 but, as MasterofComputers wrote, all you need is the i686 iso.

C'mon guys, trust us. Alessandro and I have been banging out distros day in and day out :P.

As evidence my P3 that runs Slackware shows up as an i686 under KDE's Computer Management Pane. If a P3 qualifies so should a P4. :D

Alright, I was comming to that idea too.

So does this means that P4 should be added to the list on Wiki?

Yes Balto. Would you like to do that since I don't have a wikipedia account? :)

I've done that. Took some time figuring out where to place it according to production timeline. Eventually decided to have it between Celeron and Pentium M.
