llamuh
Rather than jack someone else's thread I will start my own, though I'm not alone in my problem. I have spent an entire week trying to get the sound working on my Alienware m5550 laptop (same as some model of Fujitsu and is a uniwill generic). I've tried the beta4some driver, AzaliaAudio, using HDA patcher with both my own codec and some from others, and ALC880_Leo. When using the patcher, no sound device is listed at all. When using some of the other methods, an HDA sound device is listed on the output, but there is no sound. I seem to have had the best luck with ALC880_Leo which can be found at http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=96398 With it, I at least get some static through the speakers. The output devices are shown as headphones and digital out and it shows 3 input devices which are all labeled as internal speaker. The one in the middle almost seems to act like the mic input. So I'm thinking maybe I could just change up the port arrangement or something in the kext? I have no idea how to accomplish this or if I'm even on the right track. I have not tried the headphone jack with any of the drivers as I am more concerned with the laptops speakers. I have attached my codec dump done in Ubuntu. Thanks! Edit: forgot to mention I'm on 10.5.2 Kalyway. I was able to get the sound working last year when I ran Tiger, but don't remember how. dump.txt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/104504-alc880-no-sound-on-laptop/ Share on other sites

llamuh
Today I've been combining kexts from semi-working drivers such as alc880_leo and beta4some with the patched HDA I made with my linux dump, but have had no luck. I was hoping I could sort out the port addressing by doing this, but all it does is cause the driver to not load at all. I was able to get it working in 10.4.9 so I don't see why it can't work with 10.5 but oh well.. Someone help us! btw, which driver did you use to at least get headphone output?
