rocha1573
Hello, I am on my way on getting a new MacBook Pro, still raising the cash but found out about Kalyway DVD so decided to test it on my Compaq NX6125 Laptop, with AMD Turion 64, 2Gb of RAM on a fresh HD I had for test use. This was an excellent way for me to get familiarized with Mac OS as I am very new to everything related to Mac. Well, I was able to get the DVD to work and after a few tries at adding and taking out components on the customize options at install I was able to boot Leopard on my laptop, and I have to say is working GREAT! Very happy with the result but with one slight problem, I have no audio at all. I have searched and searched, tried the macgirl kext for AC'97 but maybe I did something wrong and it didn't work. The driver is not even recognized on the sound options in hardware settings, I have no choices there. Most probably I am missing something. I really want audio to try some software I use for working and really get a feel of the OS, so please if anyone has a solution for this and can help me it will be greatly appreciate it. Thank you all! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/104124-help-with-audio/ Share on other sites

xLitsx
Use Kalaway 10.5.2 and select ac97 audio driver... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/104124-help-with-audio/#findComment-742209 Share on other sites
rocha1573
I used Kalyway 10.5.2 and choose the AC'97 driver. Anyway,, i tried today leo4all and after a long installation time (was so long that to pass time I watched superbad and cloverfield, and with time to spare lol). Well, after the long wait the laptop rebooted and of course it got stuck on that dreaded "still waiting for root device" error. Have seen like 20 posts now regarding that error and none helped me at all, the HD is an IDE drive and is set as master, which looks to be the solution for it. So, I will try Kalyway again, but I did put the correct driver and sound didn't work for me. Will let you know if it works on fresh install. But guessing it wont happen and I will have to drop the idea of putting the OS on my laptop. rocha1573
Tried again with Kalyway, triple checked that I had chose the AC97 driver and installed again. Still no audio. I tried this tutorial: OSx86 Audio with no luck at all. If I go to Applications/Utilities/Midi I can see the output device as "Unknown Device". On System Preferences/Sounds nothing, cant even move the slider. So, I am basically stuck with this problem and have no idea how to work around it. On the tutorial, when I do the kextload -t I receive the message that the driver is loaded but "Kext has no explicit kernel dependency = true", not sure what that is about but guessing maybe a tweak on info.plist might help? If anyone has any idea on this, any help will be appreciate it. zmilan
Hi rocha1573, I decided to try installing kalyway 10.5.2 on my laptop nx6125 (like you did), but I am still stuck with selecting options in customize section.. Anything I chose macos never started after installation finished. It stuck in black srceen or rebooting in loop. Did you by any chance remember what options did you select/unselect during the install? And did you manage to fix sound? Milan.
