smartalco
first off, apparently searching '750i' (without quotes) breaks the forums search, because it brings up no results, and I know I have seen 750i mentioned somewhere here, also, searching 'P5N-D' resulted in several mentions of the P5N-E, but only one with the -D Second off, what is the feasibility of installing OS X on a 750i based board? I have seen 650i install threads, but I figure the 6 -> 7 makes a difference. I would need functional SATA drives, audio, ethernet, and firewire (might be able to live without FW). (for those curious, it would either be an ASUS P5N-D or an EVGA 750i FTW paired with an E8400 and a 9600GT or two) in the 10.5.2 hardware compatibility thread, there is someone who used a P5N-D, would this be a typical case? Thanks for the help! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/103445-feasibility-of-os-x-on-750i/ Share on other sites
smartalco
no help? additional question: some have talked about having to install with an IDE HD/optical drive, once installed could it then be transfered to an SATA drive? ruslan120
well, it worked for me. I used a combo of iAtkos v2.0i and Kalyway 10.5.2 My Hardware is: Intel E6600 @ 2.7 from stock 2.4 PNY 8600 GTS 256 MB VRAM P5N-D sata hard disk 4 gb 800 mhz ddr2 ram ide dvd burner USB mouse and keyboard This is what I did: Load up kalyway with -x, but for me no need, Install with kalyway, load nvinject video drivers, speedstep kernel even though on nforce, and most of the drivers and apps DONT BOOT Insert iAtkos v2.0i load with "nforce -v -x cpus=1", and if you have over 2 gb of mem, add "maxmem=2048" uncheck everything check nforce kernel, sse3 efi check all of network drivers and misc fixes (automount) Everything works fine, except for firewire not being detected, audio working even though it says none detected, and usb drives dont automatically mount, have to restart, looking for a fix. Cheers! Load up Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/103445-feasibility-of-os-x-on-750i/#findComment-870629 Share on other sites
ruslan120
note: monitor shouldn't play a role, and PS/2 keyboards/mice result in hangs (probably unsupported) I've tried to use ps/2 keyboards and all resulted in hangs; just save yourself the hassle and buy a cheap usb keyboard, and trust me, you're life will be much easier (now that os x will work p.s make sure your bios is configured correctly! verdant
had this working perfectly on my P5N-D until i tried to update to 10.5.5, then it wouldnt boot saying it couldnt mount the drive How did you go about updating to 10.5.5.......probably you have installed a vanilla kernel which won't work with your nForce MOBO.....
