Hillin
I have the iTAKOS v1.0r2 installed on my laptop, which has a 1.66GHz Core2 Duo processor, 1GB DDR2-667, GMA950, running well. Also I have the macosx 10.5.2 combo update dmg file downloaded on my machine. I tried to install it directly, but failed to boot after a restart(panic). I think there must be a tutorial teaching me to do this, but I cannot find it. How can I get my leopard upgraded? I don't have the 9.x MB boot loader component selected during installation of my leopard 'cos it will not allow my leopard to boot up. I have only the darwin bootloader, the efi, the speedstep, the Realtek 8139 driver installed along with my leopard. Thanks a lot.

00diabolic
Yikes learn how to search the forum. What your looking for is kalyway 10.5.2 combo update. Instructions included. You can get it where jack sparrow and his lot of rum drinking buddies hang out. If you need more help with it. You can search for feedback on that update. Thanks but I failed to get any result with the search function, maybe I'm not having the correct keywords. Do you mean what I need is a kalyway update package instead of the apple official one? I tried out the method on netaks.org but get a panic on starting up.

Yeah gotta use google man, the site search sucks. See: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=102317 The 10.5.2 update is called kalyway combo update. Apple will most likely break your machine guy. Look for that kalyway update where the savy sea sailors come to barter there pilfered treasures. Alright, I'm downloading kalyway_hack_10.5.2ComboUpdate.4024028.TPB.torrent from the place you mentioned, so is this the correct one? The official one gave me nothing but a panic really. but the comments there say that a installation of a new kernel is required otherwise there may be problems after the update. Any ideas about this? Pardon I'm really a newbie.
00diabolic
Yeah you can try one of the speedstep kernels after you get the update installed. It installs the vanilla 9.2 kernel otherwise. So you would need to install the kernel before you restart. http://minsong79.tistory.com/
Hillin
They told me to connect to a irc server and get the new kernel =.= I cannot connect to that server however. This is really a troublesome work. Perhaps I can write a tuturial describing how to finish all these after I have mine done.

Hillin
btw, how can i check what kernel i am using ? vanilla or a patched one ? thanks Open the System Profiler, in the Software-Frameworks section, you can see the version of the "kernel". 00diabolic
Open the System Profiler, in the Software-Frameworks section, you can see the version of the "kernel". I dont know if thats accurate. The reason I say that is I have netkas 9.2.0 Speedstep kernel and in the frameworks section it says I have kernel 9.2.2. I think that reports the kernel based on something else that was updated. I have all the updates from Apple and I bet some kext, bundle or whatever shows the kernel that should be running weather it actually is or not. Hillin
Yeah it shows the version of /System/Library/Frameworks/Kernel.framework, not the mach_kernel(if it is named so, located at the root path). ~,~
