oldsoulsong
When i try and boot from the dvd, it goes through the first 4 or 5 lines that say something about HFS fine. Then i see something to with efi just flash on for a split second then my computer restarts. I was just wondering if anyone knew what casuses this problem. I think it may be due to incompatible hardware but i just wanted to make sure. My PC is: AMD sempron 2800+ CPU Asus K8u-X Motherboard 1 Gig Ram Nvidia 6600 LE A western Digital Caviar SATA Drive I have UBUNTU installed at the moment could it be something to with my hard drive being parttioned as Ext3 I can provide more information about my pc if required and im quite good with PC's, so if it needs some wok doing i can do it. Thanks in advance Graham Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/102214-problem-when-i-try-and-boot-from-leo4all-v2-dvd/ Share on other sites
John1232
I'm not sure how to solve it but I too have that same problem. I've tried both Kalaway and Leo4allv3 discs and the same thing happens. I previously had Tiger on my system so I think that it must be something to do with new incompatible hardware drivers for Leopard (Or my system is just too old!). My specs are : Intel Celeron CPU 2.60GHz 128 KB L2 (SSE2) 1 GB Ram Intel 845G integrated video Asus motherboard Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/102214-problem-when-i-try-and-boot-from-leo4all-v2-dvd/#findComment-729404 Share on other sites
chevy2410
@John1232 What distro are you trying to boot? Having an intel 845 chipset might be your issue. That is rather old for OSX86. @oldsoulsong Is that cpu sse2 or sse3? I'm not sure it's good enough. John1232
I tried Leo4allv3 most recently. Do you think that if I get a newer video card like ati or nvidia my problems will be solved? (BTW, I have only PCI interface so I have slim pickings) Thanks man. eddie11c
You problem is related to efi. However there is hope, I am currently working on a non EFI install disk to solve this. See pic here this laptop had the same issue but is now running Leopard as good as it can with the slow cpu/hard drive.
