Darkmatter
From what I read from other sources, I think these new iMacs has the same logic board used in Imac (August 2007). And it is possible for previous gen iMac owner to upgrade to this 45nm processor if it becomes available on the market. But since these processors where only made especially for iMac, i think market availability is impossible. exman
They are not special iMac processors. They are standard mobile (Centrino) processors, commonly found in Macbooks and Notebooks. Some of these processors are available and can be installed in old iMacs, but only if you are good with soldering. http://www.priceguidenetwork.com/computer-...t-p-retail.html Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/102031-new-faster-imac%C2%B4s-out-now/#findComment-732247 Share on other sites
Darkmatter
Aluminum iMac's processor is pin type and you can replace the CPU without soldering. I knew it because I've done it myself. Here's my proof. http://www.flickr.com/photos/25459422@N06/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/102031-new-faster-imac%C2%B4s-out-now/#findComment-733248 Share on other sites
