Mac OSX Coder
Hey Guys I already have a patched bootable version DVD of 10.4.3. Im still in the process of building my computer so im not 100% done Im basically running a OSx86 with a AMD CPU. I want to do a native install of OSx86 10.4.4 so I can just boot it and run. Is this possible? If yes, how do I do it? If not possible, how do I go onto installing it? I've read some guides of having a 10.4.3 system and then upgrading to a 10.4.4, but I want the 10.4.4 to take over the entire hard drive! Eskurza
you need 10.4.3 to install 10.4.4 at the moment .. you can use 2 seperate harddrives.. 1 for 10.4.3 and 1 for 10.4.4 thats the idea behind m....'s instructions after you're done with 10.4.4 you can format the 10.4.3.. Make sure you follow the instructions exactly.. especially the bless command and darwin bootloader patch. after all done, put the 10.4.4 harddrive primary master and boot. hope this helps Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10170-native-install-of-1044/#findComment-63562 Share on other sites
10kelvin
no you dont, just perform the 10.4.4 and 10.4.5 updates in single mode as root and make sure to force update_prebinding before you reboot, and with amd cpu make sure you use the mach_kernel.all_amd or patch mach_kernel.orig with the amd patch if you have sse3 capability. EDIT: Most important doing this is to remember that the update will wipe your /usr/standalone/i386 directory and drop boot.efi in there, so back up the 10.4.3 files before the updates and then restore them BEFORE REBOOTING! And when you say "force update_prebinding", what do you mean? 10kelvin
10.4.4 and 10.4.5 updates are the same process from 10.4.3 native, as they can be applied and patched in single mode as root before rebooting the system. I would recommend you boot 10.4.3 in single mode, backup your /System/Library/Extensions and /usr/standalone/i386 to /backup-10.4.3, then if possible (you have a second machine somewhere) launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ssh.plist then you can ssh to your machine remotely to apply the 10.4.4 update manually, upon success without rebooting apply the 10.4.5 update manually from a new login, upon failure you can just kill that connection and try again or gdb the installer pid to find out what stopped. ps -A | grep /Applications/Utilities/Installer.app/Contents/MacOS/Installer $1 Finally replace the decrypted framework files and run the patcher to remove the "Genuine Intel" hooks. Restore Extensions/IOATAFamily.kext and the standalone boot files to their appropriate places. Move the latest and greatest mach_kernel.all_amd to /mach_kernel and reboot... ...what about that requires drugs?
