well you install 10.4.4 from 10.4.3 right? and 10.4.5 on top of that..

so you end up with 10.4.3 and 10.4.5 right again?

open your 10.4.3 and repair permissions of your 10.4.5 volume..

if you formated the 10.4.3 volume, try the 10.4.3 bootable dvd and use the diskutil there..

i have the same problem and permissions didnt fix it 8(

i did it from shell and this what i get

root# /Volumes/macosx-10.4.4/usr/bin/hdiutil attach -mountroot /Volumes/macosx-10.4.5/Users/topcat/Desktop/you_synchronize.dmg /Volumes/

load_hdi: timed out waiting for driver to load

This just happened to me with 10.4.10. The answer was to manually download the 10.4.10 updater and run it again. Something failed when using software update. The downloaders are on Apple's support page. After running the updater again from the manually downloaded package, my disk image problem was fixed as well as a problem I was having connecting to USB devices.

Of course to run the manually downloaded updater, I had to expand that disk image on a different Mac and then bring it back over to this one. Flash jump drives are great!
