hi

my friend wants to build a low cost pc and when i showed him the hackintosh project he got excited about it.i suggested e2140 as the processor to him now the problem is the motherboard.i thought of asus p5gc-mx which is 945gc but in the osx86 wiki it shows that the lan is not working!!

is there any low cost motherboard which is compatible?any with better onboard solution than a gma950?

Asus seems to be keeping the chip sets for Lan a secret which makes it harder to get it working. I've got a very similar motherboard which I really am happy with. The Asus P5L-MX newegg still has for $69.99 . It too has been listed as Lan not working . There is now a driver for it on this site. Attansic L1 Ethernet driver. I used a cheap $5.00 generic Relink chip card for over a year now. Mac OS sees it as built in and doesn't require a driver. Intel GMA 950 works great for me. I added what is called an "Add2" card for DVI video out.I can still use the vga plug as well for 2 monitor use. Tiger required driver for the audio but Leopard seems to have the driver for audio build in .

So in short I recommend the board I'm using . The other maybe fine with a cheap PCI ethernet card.
