Jamezes
Is resizing my osx partition safe with Acronis Disk Director? It says that my mac partition is a "ShagOS Swap". inignot
I have the same question- and I also see the mac partition as "ShagOS Swap". Please let me know how it works if you try it. Dog_Paddle
Doesn't sound to safe, it will probably corrupt the partition. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10154-resizing-osx-partition-with-acronis/#findComment-63544 Share on other sites
Krazubu
Resizing hfs is currently impossible with any software except under a REAL PPC mac Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10154-resizing-osx-partition-with-acronis/#findComment-63549 Share on other sites
jdxxx
Using Norton Ghost, I installed 10.4.4 be simply restoring a partition image of a working system. The image was 21GB in the original. I restored it to another computer, into a 24GB partition. To my surprise, it installed to the entire 24 GB -- all accessible. I did a Disk Utilities First Aid from 10.4.3 on the 10.4.4 partition. It found "one small header error" which it repaired. All is working. Subsequently I installed 10.4.5 onto this 10.4.4 installation. No problems, 24GB all good. So it is apparently possible to do this, at least with a slightly larger partition, using Norton Ghost. jdxxx
When you restore a partition using Acronis or Ghost, it does not matter what the original partition format was. The image will overright the existing partition, and will be in the format of the original image partition file system, what ever it was.
