vml2607
Hi. I'm having a lot of crashes. Every time i uses transmission, it gets me a kernel panic and a window asking me to restart. I'm not sure if it has been caused by my transmission update or my new usb wireless device, Dlink WUA 1340. I already formated my laptop and happend again. How can fix it? Any ideias? I can't find the logs about it. Compaq C571NR Kaly + Kaly update New Kaly DVD (can't install it. having kernel panic too) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/101085-kernel-panic-transmission/ Share on other sites

friedymeister89
Yeah, Transmission definitely crashed my computer too. It's strange though, it usually happens when i'm in the middle of downloading something, never really in the beginning. jizzle
same here, i used leo4all v3 10.5.2 my firefox and transmission would crash and eventually restart my computer by itself. I read that the problem could be ur current kernel, try using a different kernel. I was using netkas's speed step kernel 9.2.0 (i think it was). I'm gonna give a try to modbin's new kernel and c if dat helps. graybix
I'v had the same problem with transmission as well with playing Flash videos in Firefox when i was using leo4all v3. I thought it might of been the video driver so updated it. But still kernel panic then SATA driver, ATA driver, nForce drives as well as updating the kernel all to no avail. I then I installed with lawlessppc 10.5.4 and transmission works fine. The only thing i can think it could be is the ACPIPatform or SMBIOS my monney is on the ACPIPlatform. hope you guys finger out the plroblem Hardware Overview: Model Name: Mac Model Identifier: Processor Name: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ Processor Speed: 2.01 GHz Total Number Of Cores: 1 L2 Cache: 512 KB CPU Features: FPU VME DE PSE TSC MSR PAE MCE CX8 APIC SEP MTRR PGE MCA CMOV PAT PSE36 CLFSH MMX FXSR SSE SSE2 HTT SSE3 CX16 Memory: 2 GB Bus Speed: 200 MHz Boot ROM Version: Hack.88Z.int.0sh.061193037 (Phoenix Technologies, LTD) System Software Overview: System Version: Mac OS X 10.5.4 (9E17) Kernel Version: Darwin 9.4.0 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/101085-kernel-panic-transmission/#findComment-863235 Share on other sites

Abda92
yea I've been having the same problem too, except I realized that it was certain torrent files (which were all big) that caused it when they reached a specific percentage.. I tried redownloading the files but that didn't fix it... On 10.5.2 system - all work fine After update to 10.5.5 - random kernel panic This was a memory problem in my case. I mean - problem of SATA drivers (kexts) This my post: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=134477 This place of a kext`s developer: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=127611 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/101085-kernel-panic-transmission/#findComment-963458 Share on other sites
ocioci
i had the same problem before because of ram, jmicron.kext was the problem and i changed all my ide drives to sata and remove jmicron to be able to use ram above 4gb.. if you have 4gb ram, you can limit it with a maxmem=3400 or something like that. but if you have 8, you can order sata-ide converters and use the ide drives like sata by removing jmicron Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/101085-kernel-panic-transmission/#findComment-965027 Share on other sites
williestring
Pull the new usb device out of the equation. You still getting KPs? May i ask why usb cause KP?(sorry- this is a stupid question!) and someone say 1394 & another HD both need to pull out! Does any relationship (cause KP)with these hardware? sorry for my poor English Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/101085-kernel-panic-transmission/#findComment-1258760 Share on other sites
freesoul
Transmission will KP when the file you're downloading/writing to is corrupted. I just had this strange issue and when I verified my Partition in Disk Utility it said that the file was corrupted. I tried removing it from transmission with "Remove Data File" option but only the task was removed. The file was still on my HDD. I tried trashing it but it kept saying the file is being used. Hmm.. Luckily the file was in a folder(on my Desktop). I renamed the folder to "fff" Then opened Terminal and typed: sudo rm -r ~/Desktop/fff And the file was gone and with it the Kernel Panics too! PS. I know it's an old topic but I've been Googling for a solution and landed here. Just in case someone needs that!
