I was keeping profit48's guide and everything was fine, till i ran setup, which couldn't see partition i recently created. I was thinking about apple built-in disk manager , but it typed that all other partitions will be destroyed, and I get scared. Is it true, that whole disk will be deleted? I am not 100% sure, so I am asking here for getting sure. So my question is: Is it secure to use 10.4.3 disk manager to create partition? And if not what else should I try.

Please answer qucikly, cause I wanna roar Tiger tonight :)

Sorry for my English, I hope you'll understood what I mean

well, that was a helpful reply!

Do NOT use the disk utility to create a partition, unless the disk it is on only contains Mac partitions, otherwise it will screw up the other partitions. Did you try to prep the partition you want to use? There are several methods, most popular being the diskpart utility in XP (see the wiki for instructions - one such is here ) Basically you need to prep the partition, and set it up as type = AF, so disk utility can see it. :(

Firmatting a partition in HFS+ journaled through the disk utility will not hurt the rest of the disk. As long as you already created the partition and it is separate from the xp partition. ALso, make sure you're clicking on the partition, not the disk. I did this last night while using the 10.4.3 DVD for the first time.

I knew how to create partition by diskpart, I did it so before. I increased free space using Partition magic and created ad=if partition

Now I have formatted partition by Disk utility, but it seems that nothing is good for Mac :thumbsdown_anim: , because now I get error like thah: Mac can't be installed on this partition, because it cannot be started up (or something like that, I can't remember whole frase any more)

What shall I do plaeeeaaase?

EASY METHOD TO MAKE MAC INSTALLER TO SEE AVAILABLE VOLUME FOR TIGER SETUP

With Partition Magic make a 2nd part under XP. Whatever the disk format you choose for that volume, Mac is waiting for formatting with Mac...

Because normally you need to install Mac on a blank HDD. If you want to keep your XP partition and install Tiger on a 2nd : restore 10.4.4 Ghost image already transfered on your 2nd volume( found on Torrent sites) with Symantec Ghost Boot CD. It takes only 20 minutes for me. Then you have the choice :

You erase with DU data volume of this new HFS+ partition and then you can make fresh install. Or you upgrade it. It's a 100% and fast method.
