checking in.

Actually, you know what dip{censored}s, the first step to diagnosing a new problem is to backtrack and review over EXACTLY what changes took place.

I was using kabylkernel on a 10.5.2 kalyway install and had recently updated to 10.5.3 via kalyway combo updater.

After rebooting, while running off of the battery, this is the error that i receive.

I am going to begin researching this to see what I come up with.

sounds like your cpu isn't getting recognized properly, try a dvd with the chameleon 1.0.11 efi patch

I also have the same error in my startup/dmesg. I downloaded and installed Chameleon 1.0.11 efi patch and still error persists. ;)

Any other ideas?

I might have a solution for this kernel panic at boot:

Extensions "com.apple.driver .AppleACPIPlatform" has immediate dependencies on both com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpi components

I was receiving this on a restart after I installed iLife 09, and then did software update to grab the media browser 2.0. I am running iDeneb 10.5.5. I edited the /Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist to reflect 10.5.6. On the reboot, I kept getting that error message and couldn't get to the desktop even with -x -v -cpu=1....

Finally, I disconnected a USB hub I had that allows you to switch USB devices between two different computers via a series of buttons. I'm not so sure that the hub is the culprit. It might have been the USB cable connecting the hub to the back of my IP35 Pro mobo. I think that cable might be damaged. If you are getting this error, I can only suggest that you disconnect all USB devices (mouse, keyboard, etc.) and try to boot with ONLY your ps/2 keyboard attached (for typing the -v boot arg). If that gets you to the desktop, then you'll need to re-attach all your devices one at a time with a reboot on each one. When the problem returns. Bingo.

Started up no problems with no args. I can't say this is at all related to the iLife 09 install. That install is what prompted me to the reboot.

BTW- if you go back and edit that file to reflect 10.5.5, iLife 09 won't start. You gotta keep it at 10.5.6. Hope this helps people. I searched a lot of forums with that kernel panic. Couldn't find any solution.

this error has no effects on my system ( i have it since 10.5.2 without problems)

Yeah same thing with me, I get the error on startup, but it does not halt or cause problems.
