Hi,

I just wanted to thank righteye and P2iM-0. Thanks to you (and numerous others on these boards) I now have QE/CI working on my Thinkpad T60p (2007-CTO, 14" (I think) display)! I really wondered whether I'd ever get it working, but in the end it was P2iM-0's kexts (with my EDID substituted in ATIinject, since I have a smaller screen) that did the job!

Thanks again guys, you rock! ;)

If anyone else has the same laptop, I'll try to help if I can. Once I get my notes cleaned up, I'll post them on the forum.

gneely74,

Yes, it's working fine as we speak. When I run Software Update it says I still need to install the Graphics Update, but thats probably just because it detects that the version of ATINDRV.kext is not the same as the LGU. Otherwise, all other kexts are LGU kexts, the only one thats modified is ATIRadeonX1000.kext, and I'm using ATIinject.kext to get my resolution to 1680x1050. Try the kexts I posted above, just be sure to change your EDID in ATIinject.kext and you should be good to go.

Do the traditional 'chown, chmod', rm -rf Extensions.mkext, & 'diskutil repairPermissions /' on the kexts and you should be all set. Righteye helped me out with this, it just took me to realize I've been using the wrong damn device ID for a couple weeks now.

EDIT 03/15/08 -- I've just reinstalled OS X again just to clean up some of the unnecessary mess I left after making so many changes during testing. I am now running Kalyway 10.5.1 -> Kaly 10.5.2 Combo Updater -> Kaly 10.5.2 Vanilla Kernel -> Leopard Graphics Update -- I have full QE/CI & External Display (with QE/CI) with ONLY modifying my ATIRadeonX1000.kext (Info.plist, ATIRadeonX1000 binary file) and ATIinject.kext (EDID, device/vendor ID's). There was no need to modify ATINDRV.kext that was installed by default with the LGU. I've also noticed that some animations exist now, and my system has yet to boot to a black screen. This is a huge improvement for me.

There is a custom installer i put in mi first post (at the bottom) ... is for Leopard 10.5.2 with the Leopard Graphics Update made ... if that doesn't help ... might be the EDID ... so you have to give it to me ... But for now just go to mi first post and get the installer.

Cheers

as i understand you a runing Leopard on Asus G2P

and i'll try to do the same i'm using Kalyway 10.5.1 + Kalyway IntelComboUpdate 10.5.2 (no kernel update)

this is my result post-204204-1206521776_thumb.jpg sorry it's in russsian but i hope you understand

I have A8JP with Kalyway 10.5.1. QE/CI work fine and Resolution @1280x800 but backlit don't work and split to 4 screen

Do you have information or instruction to fix it?

Thank,Regard

Yes ... you have to replace the kexts with the ones from previous posts ... or to make the Leopard Graphics Update and use the ATINDRV.kext and ATiRadeonx1000.kext from my installer and the ATiinject.kext but edititng the EDID with the one from your device.

The kexts i patched are only for those that have 10.5.2 and Leopard Graphics Update!

If you can't get it work send me the device id and the EDID and i'll try to make an installer for you.

Cheers

Ok ... here is your Atiinject

Do not use the kext helper ... just do it manually and chown chmod the kext and repair permissions and reboot. you should have all enabled

to make the story short ... yes ... something like ;)

but now i'll explain ;)

to get the res change and the Qe and Ci enabled you have to use atiinject.kext using your EDID, but you also nead the ATINDRV.kext and ATiRadeonx1000.kext

in the installer are all but the ATINDRV.kext and ATiRadeonx1000.kext are only for the 10.5.2 with the Leopard Graphics Update

if you have 10.5.1 or 10.5.2 but NO Leopard Graphics Update you can use the previous ATINDRV.kext and ATiRadeonx1000.kext from my first post

hope you get it right

Thanks, but it does not work. I installed your kext then ATIinject.kext, reboot with -v. It seem alright, i can see card name with some information on the bootscreen, but after a while, it flashed blue and turned to black. I booted with -v -s, remove ATIinject then post result here.

righteye posted a zip file called "LeopardAllVersionsX1700" now every file in this works except for ATIinject.kext even after i edit the file and change to my EDID etc i boot with screen all messed up, i'm using every other file in this zip file but using thehuan's ATIinject file which works great.

I didn't use the huans ATINDRV or ATIRadeonX1000 files because it makes the mouse tear and OS sometimes boots with mucked up graphics which also can cause the OS to freeze.

But combination of both made it very stable.

Currently running 10.5.0, but will update to 10.5.2 once again very soon

OK ... looks like the installers have no success ... And the problem is because of the info.plist from Atiinject.kext

There are 2 Atiinject.kext working ... but each one for different machines

One Atiinject was added here by thehuan and looks like works for Asus F3JP and possible to Asus V1JP

The Atiinject that i use is for an Asus G2P and looks different and works different, has to be like this otherwise my graphic card is messy

So ... for a future install ... i will post the 2 versions of info.plist so that you can try the 2 of them and give us the info witch one is working!

I propose that this info from you to look like:

Working atiinject info.plist version by: thehuan

Machine model: Asus F3JP

Hope this will help to figure out what is best for your machine.

Allot of problems here i see ... HmmIt is hard to figure out why there are so many black screens there ...You should look for al Natit or something in the Extensions folder ...Also you can try the kexts I'm using downloading from here .to proper install the kexts do this:

sudo -s

your password

sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/the_name_of.kext

sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/the_name_of.kext

rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

diskutil repairpermissions /

Do not replace all the kexts at once ... do one by one and try different combinations!

Do not use the kext helper ... just drag the kexts inside the Extensions folder then repair permissions in terminal!

BackUp the kexts ... it might be helpful!

Do not use ChangeRes or applications to change the resolution!

(this are my suggestions but you do not have to follow)

I'll come back with new installer if the people give me the right EDID, extracted from Windows using Phoenix EDID Designer
