Hi, i'm on an ATI mobile (71c5)

I;ve isntalled the 10.4.8 reseed dvd with the semthe Kernel Version 8.8.1

I've installed the "new" beta from

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry233819

However, i got a black screen. :) and the computer locked ..

After removal of the ATIR* and removed Extensions.* .. still a black screen but after the computer was completed loading i hit my powerbutton (wich brings down the "standby/rstart/shudown" button i hit enter.

AFter a little investigation:

So it does load, and detects correct :-)

Is my kernel too old ? or .. does someone has a suggestion what to do ?

The only thing i want i change-res and no more mousetearing ..

Probably, Natit doesn't work with Mobility Radeon, i have a same problem too (Natit doesn't work, mouse tearing, no resolution change, only 1400x1050, but QE/CI working well) :(

I've plugged an external monitor, but it doesn't work too — black screen and nothing. But, detection was correct...

I never used Natit, but my X1600 mobility only works with 10.4.5 IONDRVSupport.kext, 10.4.7 ATINDRV and 10.4.8 - all other kexts.

Also you might insert internal-Displays-EDID-info (needed here...) and the display-component-bits value.

For everyone who gets a garbed picture, I recommend to turn of AAPL, Dual-Link and display0 or 1 dual-link-flags.

EDIT: I'll post an mobility X1600 installer here tommorow!

By garbled picture do you mean the stripes on boot some X1600 users are getting or the weird blocks you get when changing the display to an unsupported resolution?

Great News!

I have an ATI mobility radeon x1700 and will test your installer, when it comes out. Then i will tell you if it works with the x1700, too.

Will there be an Uninstall method for your installer, if it doesnt work?

Any news on the installer? i have read 100s of posts which kexts to use, but all kext are arguing, and now i read THEMAXX32000 is using the 1047 atindrv.kext,

while i thought he was using the 1045 version all the time.

Well i gonna try it all again... "x1600mob 1920x1200x32x60 display with raw EDID from windows registry"

btw atiinject loads fine if atindrv is not working, system profiler detects my display adapter as a x1600mob but still no res change...

If atindrv is loaded the laptop screen goes black but will not turn off, it keeps the backlight on.

i'll keep you posted in a couple of hours...

I have Mobility Radeon X1600 too (Asus A6JA laptop). With natit and many other methods I just get a black screen or garbage (blue lines), but I've been able to get the X1600 to work in native resolution, and being able to change resolution, got the mouse tearing fixed, by manually editing the info.plist in atiinject.kext - however then my laptop's backlight goes off and it's nearly impssible to see things :)

TheMaxx32000, how would I turn AAPL off?

1400x1050 is ok for me on a mobility x1800, I dont however get any mouse tearing like some of you have got, and I am not using anything other then ATINDRV and x1000 drivers everythin else is deleted. the thing boots up everytime w/ CI/CE dualview but again my max resolution is 1680 x1050 and its a no go. Whats odd is I know the Imacs have 20" screens have have the same native resolution as my laptop but not sure why I cant force it to go into higher resolution mode.

as far as mobily installers there isnt anything out there is an x1700/x1800 installer but two forum methods 1 just modifying kexts for ati and the other using atiinject here:

forum xmobility method: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=247328

Ati inject method: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...ost&id=7310

I also have my own modified files located: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...39&hl=m2010

your milage may vary... the edid method doesnt seem to really work ... nothing past 1400x1050 as far
