"Completely rethinking the MacPro"

The long and short of this article is that Apple have realised that they have fragmented what is already the smallest subset of their customers - the MacPro market with the Trashcan.

They plan a move back to modularity where the fastest CPU's and beefiest GPU's can be swapped in by the user.

This almost undoubtedly means Pascal support has to be on the roadmap too.

At first I thought this was a late April Fools joke, but yeah this is real news!

Ahhhhh finally they came to their mind, seems like there is still some kind of reason left @ Apple. And kudos for admitting their fault! (Well, still they shouldn't have made this mistake in the first place, I mean it was soooo apparent that this concept won't work, and they did the same kind of mistake years before with the cube).

So yeah, on afirst glance this also sounds like good news for the hackintosh scene ... well if there isn't a hidden catch we don't know about yet.

So lets hope this comes out like everyone now expects.

If this Mac Pro wil be customizable by "Apple and consumer", yes Wellcome, but if another sub-trash just *orge*.

Apple now came out that they just trashed 6 year of fail investments, with the uncustomizable machines, because they could win even more, many Apple users leaved new Mac Pro for the Old One Upgraded or for Hackintosh!

IMHO for Apple, the Hackintosh scene, is a way to find out what really Apple's Users wants Hahaaaa

Apple, you should and you really should let us continue (our and your) Hackintosh stories , this will be good for you and for us!

well, from the article below the Trashcan design does not seem to be useful enough for a Pro. I think the photo below is too extreme but it tells one of many stories.

The part discussing about It has to be user upgradeable made total sense and refered to the good old fold-out side "door" Power Mac G4. I remembered there is a MacMod called MacBane in the forum using that chasis, a fabulous work.

Well, the fact that it takes sooooooooo long (now seemingly end of 2019, maybe even later?) makes me worrying. I mean I do not expect it to be just a simple tower, like the good old cheesegrater seemingly everyone wants to see again. If they really wanted to do that, the job would be finished by now. Making towers is not that hard, even ones with bling bling design (The real thing Apple seems to be caring about. Function follows form now rules for them, what a shame)

I think Apple does not get that reinventing the wheel (G4 cube!) was the actual problem, no - they seem to think that they reinvented it the wrong way, and now they do it again ...

So the consequence is that instead of waiting, I will now look for the next hackintosh build ... I have lost faith in Apple that they ever will produce a decent "pro system" again. That also means that they never will get my money again for the "pro" {censored} they produce. The "iMac Pro" is just another joke in my eyes.
