DrAndi
I had tried to follow Rehabman's tut on patching the DSDT to enable brightness control, and about halfway after installing all needed programs, I noticed that I am missing the device (or sub-device) containing the _BCM _BQL and so on, methods. I attached my DSDT, I hope anyone knows whats going on with it. Thanks System DSDT.zip
styrian
Hello! It is hard to help you because of your unknown hardware. Please put your relevant hardware in your signature, like many others have done it here. Are there no ssdt files with the missing methods in? Have fun. DrAndi
@styrian I just did that @LexHimself As how I understood it its all about the device with the needed methods, not too sure what you posted.
WaldMeister
Hi, Read the topic wrong. Search for PNP0C14 in the DSDT, that should be the correct device.
DrAndi
So I searched for that device, and as mentioned earlier, the specific methods from Rehabman's tut are missing. Could you instruct me on this one? Thanks
styrian
Hello! Try to follow this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/287133-guide-backlight-brightness-for-intel-80860046-1st-gen-hd-gma-5700mhd/?hl=%20brightness%20%20control I am sorry, but I by myself never had a device with 1 gen Cpu. Because I already tried to add the code disregarding the missing sub device. Didn't work though lol So you mean I can continue? DrAndi
So yeah, with the DSDT posted initially the slider works, but doesn't adjust the brightness. What can I do? :

DrAndi
Hello! Different built-in Intel GFX. Have fun. {censored}, it was my fault I hand't included all necessary specs in my signature, my laptop only has a Nvidia Quadro FX1800m, no cpu integrated chip. DrAndi
Hello! Try to boot with GraphicsEnabler=Yes (key to set in Chameleon). Have fun. I already have that bootflag So i looked into what Rehabman suggested and I extracted a SSDT from windows where I found the instructions from the LCD device. Unluckily after modifying it I got such a bad kernel panic that removing the SSDT didn't fix it, will have to re install it again...
styrian
Hello! Have you booted the first time with ignoring caches after removing the SSDT? Have fun.
DrAndi
Alright, it took me some time, but I got everything working again (except for brightness ofcourse). I did a fresh reinstall and after some testing I noticed that the hackintosh only boots if I don't skip Nvidia GFX, furthermore in display settings it's not mentioned anywhere that there is intel hd graphics in this laptop. This leads me to think that the nvidia gpu is the only one used by my build. Running small benchmarks confirms that mentioning my nvidia gpu, although the graphical performance is way down compared to my windows build. So what I will have to do is search a brightness fix for Nvidia, shouldn't be too hard I guess.
styrian
Hello! If your display does not show up as built-in, brightness regulation will not work. Have fun.
DrAndi
@styrian this is what it looks like in sys pref (http://imgur.com/4xIQNUy) @rehabman I extracted my gpu's ssdt with aida64 and found needed methods, but still it just enables a fancy slider that doesn't do anything... Mind if you look into my ssdt? Thanks
