Derek12
Yes I know it's a low power card but I would want to reduce idle power and make this card a bit cooler. Because this card is passive and can heat if running at full clock all the time and in Windows it underclocks OK. Judging by the idle temperature, currently 60º C, I think it's running at full clock speed but I can't see it due to GPUSensors not showing up the clock speed. I read something about editing AppleGraphicsPowerManagement kext for my SMBIOS and adding my device id but I don't understand how to, and every tutorial I find is only for Nvidia Thank you. Allan
Try use a Legacy (AGPM). AppleGraphicsPowerManagement (AGPM) for nVidia This guide is for Nvidia, but it never hurts to try.
Derek12
Thanks I got a legacy AGPM It looks like this .... <key>MacBookPro6,2</key> <dict> <key>LogControl</key> <integer>0</integer> <key>Vendor10deDevice0df0</key> <dict> <key>BoostPState</key> <array> <integer>0</integer> <integer>1</integer> <integer>2</integer> <integer>3</integer> </array> <key>BoostTime</key> <array> <integer>3</integer> <integer>3</integer> <integer>3</integer> <integer>3</integer> </array> <key>Heuristic</key> <dict> ... sooooo I replace Vendor10deDevice0df0 with mine's (Vendor1002xxxxx) and MacBookPro6,2 with my SMBIOS (MacPro5,2) and that's all? Many thanks!
Allan
You got any difference? Like temperature, speed...?
Derek12
I will try tomorrow as I will go to bed lol so I throw the legacy kext on s/l/e, keep the original one, repair permissions, reboot and check temps and performance ok, tomorrow I will check! Derek12
I forgot this thread lol. I've read that MacPro xx,x SMBIOS won't enable AGPM but iMac 11,1 yes. I've run idle comparisons between my previous one (MacPro3,1) and the current iMac 11,1 and the GPU temps drop from 62-63ºC to 59ºC. In warm weather it could reach 69 or more IN IDLE, I think that it's not so healthy, plus I lower my electric bills a bit.
